This turned out to be a delightfully twisted little movie I didn't expect it to be a dark comedy, but there were quite a few hilarious scenes, especially towards the end. Really dug it though; McConaughey was one creepy mutha F'er

Yeah, saw it at the Drafthouse not long ago and dug it. Ladies are gonna have a hard time with the ending though. Definitely one of those movies where you feel like you're going to Hell for laughing so much, so hard.

The fried chicken scene was so simple yet somehow disturbing at the same time

I read that MM was ready to turn down the project the first time he read the script. Said it was the most vile thing he'd ever read. Then over some time the more he thought about it the more he saw the humor and came around. That ending seems to be a deal breaker for a lot of folks though, men and women.

I look at it like, this: weren't you paying attention to these characters through the story? A friend of my mom's must think I'm mental for defending the end from her charge that it was unnecessary and gratuitous. I don't think so at all.

That doesn't make it not disturbing but, in a way, I see it as audience penance for being lulled into consuming all that came before this as entertainment. All the laughing and enjoying watching bad people do bad things...oh, now you feel dirty? They should have walked out or turned it off in Act I if they were gonna take the moral high ground.

I had no probs wit the ending myself, especially considering how these characters are. Everything seemed to fit well wit the rest of the film.
