Maniac remake

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Is Aja ever gonna do a horror film of his own? I know he's not the director in this one, but still he was one of the writers.

I'd watch the remake. Elija Wood is a creepy little guy. I wasn't that impressed with the original, but remakes are never good either. Although I think Spinell did a great job being the creepy maniac he played, I was just annoyed by the whiny voice. It probably didn't help that the person I was watching it with complained the whole time, maybe I'll watch it again some day.

Elija Wood does have eye that seem to convey madness so could be interesting. From the trailer he has put some effort in to get a certain look about himself, the starved artist who is deep within what he creates.

The trailer doesn't look bad so may watch on DVD. Maybe I would have liked this if it was a stand-alone movie that was inspired by "Maniac" instead of it being a remake.

The truth will only come out once we see the movie though obviously.

Yeah, I'm going to watch this. The original is a 10/10 for me. This does look creepy. I like Elijah. I think he can do this.

I really didn't like the original and this doesn't look to be any better. Other than the curiosity of how Wood will play this I am not interested at all.

But if I read correctly isn't this movie shot through the eyes of Wood? So the only real screen time he will have is mirror reflections and such?

trailer reminds me of a different film. think it was french or something. anyhoo, i'll reserve judgement till I watch this..... which will be never.:finger3:

The original is one of my favorite slasher films ever. The Remake looks decent but I believe in the trailer it isn't completely POV from wood's character. I will watch it though

I also love the original. Could see the POV working but that is a really fine line. Wood is a solid pick so unless something really stupid comes up I'll give it a shot.

I want to see it. I like the trailer. I wonder what they're going to do with the ending... if they'll copy the original or what.

Not a huge fan of the original, but I did enjoy it. Some wonderful death scenes. I'd be interested in seeing this remake. Elijah does look innocently psychotic.

The original is very MEH. Savini did some work though.

I'll only watch this because of Elijah Wood. He plays a kick ass psychopath.

From the bits I have seen I am starting to get a lot more excited about this remake, It looks like a lot of effort has been put into the whole thing. As Darkgod stated in the above as well as the other thread Elija Wood really played his psycho role in Sin City really well and was creepy as fuck. He does have this intensity in his eyes that goes down well with this character.

Most certainly go to the cinema to see this

Nothing about this is decent at all.

Wood is the complete opposite to what the film needs. For my final English exam of school (the topic was belonging) I wrote a three page character study on Frank Zito. The character is a sloth, socially unwanted and unaccepted. The larger set, dirty, greasy man isn't the only thing that conveys this, the only person to acknowledge him without him initiating first contact in the entire film is a prostitute. Not to mention the low angel shots that consistently have us look down on him, make him appear smaller and far less significant.

Woods is very easily 'socially acceptable' in appearance, and I get they are going for the whole "It's creepier because he doesn't look like a killer" vibe, which is fine, but it does NOT fit the Maniac material AT ALL. It doesn't matter how good Woods in the role, the fact remains he isn't physically set for it, I see ZERO reason why a woman would be terrified of someone who is generally smaller than your average woman. It's ludicrous. Fuck this movie.

Well I liked it and still look forwards to seeing this on the big screen. I feel Elijah Woods was a good choice for the role. Feel he can convey the feeling of madness well and he has expressive eyes. Also liked how the first victim is played. What else can I state, liked the while feel they gave for the city. A sense of decay underneath all the glitter.

I just woke up so not the greatest write-up.
