Not going to write a review but just outline what I saw as IMO this flick isn't worth it.
The only way I was going to see this was a screening to begin with, thus one fell into my lap. I went in with a negative attitude towards it since as previously stated this isn't my cup of tea...and after sitting through it my thoughts have not changed.
Roth knows how to throw gore at the audience and this is no exception, however outside of that he seems quite unsure of what to do. Here you have characters you will not give two shits about in peril watching on as friends get devoured in gruesome ways. The movie quickly becomes a film where you just want them to all die quickly one after the other just to get it over with.
There is CG used here that is downright laughable from a swarm of ants to other various animals, even including highly questionable shots of the jungle itself (although it was filmed on location ). Then it seems as though Roth has a soft spot for bodily functions. Explosive diarrhea anyone? Whatever small hopes this film had at being scary goes down the toilet, literally.
Apparently this film has been complete for a long, long time. Should have stayed on the shelf.
Those looking for some good gore/kills you will get it here but you have to sit through a very painful first 30 or 40 minutes. Other than that you will get nothing else but a few unintentional laughs.
