http://badassdigest.com/2013/08/29/m...o-is-aberrant/Eli Roth's new movie (finally!) has earned itself an R rating from the MPAA, and as they do they have listed the reasons for their decision:
Rated R for aberrant violence and torture, grisly disturbing images, brief graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.
Clearly this tells you whether or not The Green Inferno is for you. As a dyed-in-the-wool fan of Italian cannibal movies, this is the second best news I could have gotten about the film (best would have been the movie going out unrated, but let's be realistic. That's for the home video release).
The movie will premiere at TIFF's Midnight Madness, and their blog makes a salient observation about Eli Roth's evolution:
Check out Roth's past MPAA scorecards. His violence started as "strong," then went to "brutal," then "sadistic," and finally to The Green Inferno's particularly evocative "aberrant." That's called "growing as a filmmaker."
Aberrant violence! It's like the MPAA is doing marketing now.

There was a big discussion about this on another forum I go to and I honestly am excited about it. I think Eli Roth is the closest thing mainstream horror has to a ballsy and daring gore artist. I liked both Cabin Fever and Hostel and with this one being about cannibals I expect I will really enjoy it as well.

Was just going to post this.
I am down for a new Roth movie. I have really enjoyed his past films and I think he needs to do more horror. His excitement for practical effects really gets me pumped for this. We shall see how it is though. Every trailer I see is pretty meh, but I have a feeling this will be great.

Meh. I'm in no rush for this. The story seems interesting and the idea needs a fresh update, but Eli is very hit and miss to me. I'll wait for some reviews.

I actually liked that trailer. I feel like they are leaving a LOT out. I know Roth has a lot of passion for the genre, so I will definitely be seeing this. The acting and plot seem a bit lame, but if there is good gore, it will be up there with the other native tribe flicks. (Hopefully better than Cannibal Holocaust/Ferox)

Movies like this are all a matter of preference. Gore-porn does nothing for me. When I was younger I was into it, the bloodier a movie the better. But my taste in films has evolved (changed is probably a better way of saying it) and I really have no interest in this at all.

Same here.
Not always, but I think for some peeps it has to do maybe with the years of movie watching, and the desensitization/been there-done that effect that can come along with that. Just kind of grew out of it. I still like beaucoup gore in flicks when the flick calls for it, and when it's well done, but for me these days gore for the sake of gore without a decent plot and competent directing wouldn't be much of a selling point.
