The Inbweeners American remake

While MTV will debut their remake of the Inbetweeners TV series in August, it appears that Paramount is going ahead with a remake of the movie. The studio has tapped original writers/creators of the series Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, to write and direct the U.S. version of the film, which is currently untitled.

A movie I can deal with, but the MTV series I'm iffy about. There's just so much raunchy gross-out humor, language, sex, and nudity in the original series. I'm just not sure how it can translate to a series on a channel like MTV. Either way, I'm guessing the studio already assumes the series will do well since they're lookin' to go ahead with a movie. I'm assuming the cast of the series will also star in the film, otherwise, it would be really confusing

watched the first episode... wasn't anywhere near the classicness of the original... but at the same time, wasn't horrible. same gags rehashed....

Honestly I never even heard of the original show or movie, so I'm gonna check it out. I saw the commercial for the new one, but if there's a British original, then I know for a fact I'll like that a lot more. British humor is just the best.

Yeah, especially since the original will be more extreme than the toned down American version.

One of the things that makes the inbetweeners so damn funny is the insane level of sarcasm and with out that its just saved by the bell. Any US remake will have to be largely slapstick in nature as many americans or at least the ones that I have met struggle to see the funny side of sarcasm so for me its a big no no.

Shit like this shits me, fair enough if it was old, but jeez. It's bad enough they do it to every successful foreign horror. Little own now moving in on the mainstream, and something that is already in english. We really live in a time of just about zero originality. Pathetic.
