Tesis {Thesis} 1996 8/10
Ángela is a film student at the Madrid's University Complutense. Searching for research material for her thesis on audio-visual violence, she attains the friendship of Chema , a fellow student and introvert with an encyclopedic collection of violent and pornographic films.
After her professor dies while watching a film she steals the videotape, discovering that it is a snuff film featuring a girl whom Chema recognizes as a former student at the university - and a former associate of current student Bosco. Investigating the origins of the tape, they are drawn into the operations of a chilling snuff ring.

Timo Rose's Beast, even though I enjoyed this it could of been way better. As mentioned by others could of had a lot more werewolf action. Timo's gore is always brilliant though![]()

Well for a start this is a slow burner, and according to Ronny this was done with intention. By the end it actually makes sense to be done this way. His filming technique is visually interesting and the storyline makes you think about what is happening, I like this. I do feel the connection to Recompense, obviously this being the sequel but more in the line of a spiritual sequel if that makes sense.
Ronny described this movie as a drama with horror elements to it. This depends on your perspectives as well as looking back afterwards. I would call it horror as in a way it was to me about moving through purgatory hence the link to the first movie.
I can not review it right now simply because I feel the need to watch it a few times more before doing it. I just couldn't do it justice right now to be frank. I need to get my thoughts on it totally clear in my head first.
In the end I feel that both of you would appreciate this film![]()

I agree with Splat on this one, Dust Box is one you have to watch a few times, but it's still pretty good!

Nails
The debut visual masterpiece of Andrey Iskanov (Visions of Suffering, Philosophy of a Knife). An assassin for the Russian Government discovers that the use of trepanation, hammering nails and drilling into his skull, eases the pain in his had and allows him to view things differently. With each nail he slips into insanity.
I liked the use of black and white up to when he first starts the trepanation. Then colour is applied wonderfully to the story. For me it was a visual treat. There was not a great deal of dialogue in the story but then this was about a man in his solitude dealing with his own demons.
It only goes for an hour but to be honest this was a perfect amount of time to get everything across with no filler.
To be honest I wasn't a great fan of Russian Cinema at first when I viewed some of the trailers/previews placed up either here or on Facebook etc. But after viewing Visions of Suffering and now this, Nails, I love it

Like a shitload of caffeine for example.
It's a great docu-horror film, part documentary/part horror film. I think the only aspect I didn't like about it is that it focused more on Russian victims then it did both Chinese AND Russian. But considering the film is directed by a Russian filmmaker, I guess I can let that slide

Metal Retardation. This is a Bill Zebub film of him interviewing different bands in his own zanny mannerSome of the stuff was ok but for the most part was pretty lame. I was expecting a lot more entertainment value, good idea but it failed.
