It looks like its gonna have an even smaller opening weekend number than the first one, which worries me about the The Collected(aka The Collector Part 3). I've been seeing the ads all over YouTube, but its supposed to make a measly $2.4mil this weekend.
At the same time, though, I think they should quit while they're ahead.

I said this very thing 2 weeks ago when I saw it in this very thread on page 2. Terrible time to release this movie.

I caught it yesterday afternoon first showing and it turned out to be a solid horror flick and it had good ending too. There wasn't a whole lot when i went to check it but then again it was the afternoon on a friday when most people where still at work at the time.

That's funny that you mentioned that, the only part I didn't like was the ending.

I agree about it not being a shitty film. It's as good, if not better than the first. I'm just a bit mixed on the prospects of a third film. On one hand I'd love to see what happens next in the story, but on the other I don't want to see them gambling with the collector's legacy. They could very well damage the first two. Not to mention that the third film is almost always the weakest in the series in the history of movie trilogies. It seems like they're taking it slow to plan it out, but still. Remember what happened with all the other franchises in horror history?
There's an interesting interview on Bloody-Disgusting about the third film (AKA The Collected) with Patrick & Marcus. It seems like they plan to take it a little differently.
Anyways, you should definitely check out The Collection. If you are a fan of the first, then you will love it.

Bottom line is the movie could be a masterpiece of the genre but completely bomb at the box office. If it bombs it most likely won't get funding for a sequel. So although if it doesn't make money doesn't mean it's a bad movie it does have a lot to do with if another will be made.

It finished pulling in just $3 mil, barely enough to be the 10th movie over the weekend. It doesn't look good.

This movie was brilliant! I'm a big fan of the first one and I was a bit hesitant to see the sequel for I felt the biggest success of the first one was the limited characters. But whatever worries I had were gone ten minutes in, this is what sequel should be, it takes everything about the first and amplifies it successfully. I don't think I've rooted more for the protagonists in a horror flick in a long while. Arken is seriously a bad ass mofo, and The Collector is now a bonafide horror legend. I enjoyed the lack of backstory for him, other than a two second news story. Also the ending was one of the better conclusions I've seen, and I enjoyed the fact that they never reveal his face. I'll be really pissed if I don't get to see what happens after Arken does what he does, which is very very badass.

Great sequel! I enjoyed this even more than the first. Solid performances all around and some very impressive effects... can't wait to watch this again on DVD. Keeping my fingers crossed for a third chapter.

Worthwhile imo. Acting wasn't great and I believe this was 3D ? I don't remember but it had that cheesiness where things would pop out at you. Besides that the gore and traps are fun. I liked it.
