Caught this rom-com earlier starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt and thought it was pretty good. It didn't do very well in theaters, but I think that's due to the poor marketing since its plastered with "from the producers of Bridesmaids" everywhere and all the trailers seem to pass it off as a straight forward comedy, when in fact it's more of a romance with many comedic elements in it. Bridesmaids is more of just a gross-out female comedy, so audiences went in with a completely different mindset than what the movie really is and were left disappointed in the end. I went in knowing pretty much nothing at all and came out pleased.
It offers a good story about this conflicted couple, with a lot of interesting and silly situations and characters along the way, but it never loses its heart and substance, unlike some rom-coms. For the most part the comedy elements worked (for me anyway) even offering some nice laugh-out-loud moments. It was also nice to see so many familiar faces of comedians (mostly from television), all of whom bring their own little flavor to each character. If you like Jason Segel and/or want a good comedy that also delivers a nice story along with it, I'd recommend giving this one a look. 7/10
