Bullet to the Head

First Arnold and now Stallone has a new trailer out today. This time for a flick called Bullet to the Head from director Walter Hill (The Warriors, Trespass, Last Man Standing).

After watching their respective partners die, a cop and a hitman form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy.

A lot of familiar faces in this one. As cliched and predictable as it looks, it also feels as though it has the classic style of older action flicks that Stallone is known for. I dunno if that's what Walter Hill was going for or not, but I'm definitely diggin' it.

Too bad it's not the 80's anymore. I love 80's action flicks, but after awhile it gets tiring. Even if this came out in the 80's it doesn't even look good. Any of those guys Stallone is fighting in the trailer would dominate him in real life. Stallone is gonna be 70 in a few years. Sure he was great in the 80's, but continuing to make movies like you're 20-30 years younger is just silly.

Stallone still has the size, disposition, and street cred. to pull it off effectively enough, but what impresses me the most about this movie is that it involves Walter Hill.

First they remake Dredd the way it should have been done in the first place and Dredd 3D was one kick-ass movie. One of the best of 2012. Ironically now we have Stallone making a movie just as violent as the remake of Dredd and almost just as good.

This movie is in your face about throwing every single cliche known to 80's action movies at you with blatent disregard for what you think. And you know what...it works.

Bullet to the Head is made with the sole purpose to entertain it's audience with humor, cheesy dialogue, and an excessive amount of violence. It all works so well because the film never once takes itself seriously. If you are looking for a good story with no plot holes, great dialogue, and not in the mood for a movie paying homeage to the action films of yesteryear...avoid this at all costs.

Unlike The Last Stand where the movie suffers from an action drought and trying to take itself a bit to seriously, Bullet to the Head is the polar opposite. I don't see any fan of action flicks not having a good time with this.

On a side note, Stallone is defying age here. He looks better here than in any of the Rocky films The dude is like a walking, breathing special effect.

I don't do ratings but I will say I highly enjoyed this movie and would watch it again in a twich of a Stallone pectoral muscle.

I caught the last Thursday 10 pm showing using my free movie ticket i got sometime ago and it turned out to be a pretty decent action film. It turned out to better than expected that's for sure was enjoyable.

I won't watch it unless I download it illegally to make sure Stallone doesn't see a dime of my money. The guy is so anti gun its not funny but then puts out movies like this "Bullet to the head" hypocrisy at its finest.
