Fascinating statement. I'm sure this will be another half-assed shameless cash cow movie along the lines of the 2003 and 2006 versions and will be boycotting it about the time it comes out, but please elaborate anyways.

To be honest, I'm sure many people did the exact same thing they were doing in the movie. Hell, people nowadays sing Skynyrd out of their car.

Sure! But I just thought that was a really lazy way to make it into a '70s movie when they didn't pay much attention to anything else.

True that. I'm in the minority of actually loving the remake though, so I kind of looked passed it.

That's a first! I don't mean to challenge you or anything, but what did you love about it? I couldn't stand it; just curious what people that enjoy it might think.

Well when it came out in 2003, I was a nub to the horror genre. I saw the remake before I saw the original. But, what I really loved about it were the deaths and the gore. I also loved the beginning and end sequences and it actually scared me when I first saw it. I never seen a man rip his fingernails on a wall before either. Keep in mind, this was 2003 and I was 15 and barely had access to the internet or have a big catalogue of movies or anything. There was no Netflix and downloading a movie took three days. Now, all you damn kids have it so easy. With your Netflix streaming and your pac-man video games.

That's fair. Actually, The TCM remake was also my one of my first horror movies (excluding SAW, which was before I was a horror fan). Maybe the SAW films just made me immune to all gore, but I still didn't enjoy it.
These days I tend to hate it because of how unfaithful it is to the original. It completely ditches the concept of creepy atmosphere etc, and just tries to scare you with blood.
But to each his own. I can understand how it might hold a special place in your heart as one of your first horror movies (I still try to defend SAW sometimes for Christ's sake).

I love the first Saw. Then it just slowly goes down hill from there. I will always defend that flick because I think it's one of the many movies that got me to appreciate gore. Having a dude cut off his own foot is hardcore. It also had a very gritty and dark feel to it that I loved.

Also, TCM: The Beginning was horse shit. I saw it in theaters and hated it. Maybe I have to revisit it, but I thought it was god awful.

I'm with you on that. I enjoyed the remake quite a bit. It's nowhere as good as the original (which, when I saw it as a teenager, made me think "This is the craziest fucking thing I've ever seen"), but it was far from a let down.

I'm a little skeptical about how the new one will be, but I still plan on seeing it when it comes out. And, even if it sucks, at least it's not Rob Zombie's Halloween or (even worse) H2.

It's just a stupid gimmick to help rope unintelligent idiots in I think. I'm not a fan of it, but I don't mind it now and then for a bit of fun. Some films it can suit, others not so much.

It's tiring to hear people complain about 3D. It's a gimmick, that has been established.

I don't think it suits most films. It was a neat concept when I was a kid, but after a couple 3D films, it got old quickly. 4D is even worse (vibrating seats, water spraying you in the face, etc). I wish filmmakers would concentrate on making quality films, not spectacles to amaze the simple-minded.

Most films I've seen in 3D could have easily done without it. From now on I'll just go to 2D versions. 3D is just a another money maker for the studio.

Hoping this film will be available in 2D at the theater near me, can't stand 3D. Wearing those glasses over my own glasses is so damn annoying. Ugh.
