Greatest Movie Decade of All Time

So many great movies from so many decades, but the one decade that always seems to stand out on top for me is the 80's.

Whether great, fun, iconic, or just entrenched in pop culture, the 80's is tough to beat. The 40's are a strong decade for me, followed by the 60's through 70's. The 30's have some all timers like King Kong and Wizard of OZ, as well as some early horror classics and comedy. The 50's has a lot of fun, but a lot of cheeze.

The 80's just seems to be jam packed with the all around goodies. So many genres stuffed with their own classics.

What do you feel is the greatest movie decade ever?

70's definitely had some great classics, but I'm all about the 80's since they just jam-packed everything and anything into their films. It's also the best decade for the weirdest cheesiest shit out there.

if its Horror alone its the 80's, but if it is all encompassing then I believe its the 70's... films like Jaws, Godfather 1 and 2, Cukkoo's Nest, Chinatown, Apocalypse now and Star Wars pretty much beat any 80's film.

The 80s definitely, it's a melting pot of so many genres done perfectly. A good majority of my favorite films came out in the 90s though, Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Goodfellas, The Big Lebowski, Unforgiven, Heat, Falling Down, etc...

30's and 80's for horror, 90's for good quality films (not horror though)

70's and 80's were the best decades by far, but there were some good movies in the 90's as well.

I'm not going to pretend to be non-biased and I'll just say I love the 80s because that's what I grew up with. I also had great love for the 50s and 60s monster movies and have more recently come to love the 70s (like say in the last decade or so). That being said I'll just go with the 80s because there's just so much awesomness there, however I think there's great movies in every decade and movie fans (horror fans especially) should go back and enjoy some of the early films from the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s.
