Very good subject everyone.
I can't help it, I just have to say that it's breaking my heart not to be able to continue making movies. I'm really trying to find a way to do it on a shoestring budget, but not let them be crappy like all the ones that are out there.
Over the years, we ll know that tech has advanced to the point where anyone can grab a camera, a few lights and some editing software to shoot a movie with.
The problem is that they rush through and actually expect their shit to be the net Halloween film. Ain't happenin'.
Making a movie is work, it's a job. I refuse to accept that watching a bunch of buddies get together with a case of beer and a camera is considered shooting a film.
I'm trying also to speak as both a viewer and a filmmaker. (though I use the term "filmmaker" loosely since I've only made one) I love the' genre and am always on the search for things to watch. I freekin' love road horror, and I'm actually trying to put one together. Shit, I went out and spent my own money after finding the perfect truck for it.
Anyway, I'm with you guys. There is a shit ton of horror out there, most of it crapola. I'm no exception either. I could do better.
Just wanted to chime in.

I find myself the same way at times, especially when it comes to American Horror. Most of these new horror films being released I have no interest in. Every now and then a good one will pop up but other that that, I have no hope for them. Also I tend to watch Foreign Horror way more recently. Most of the Foreign Horrors I've seen I enjoyed WAY more that American Horror.

I guess the problem stems from the fact that in America (especially Hollywood), horror films are mostly viewed and treated as trash movies which you can make quick money with. While in Europe, horror is usually the first genre many aspiring directors choose for their film debut.
