Slashers are my favorite horror subgenre. I would love to see more infiltrate the mainstream if they were in the hands of a competent production team. Sadly, that's rarely the case. I'm sure the slasher trend will make a come-back at some point. Until then, I'll make do with finding and watching many of the lesser known 80's slashers.

I think the height of slasher flick popularity has peaked, sadly. Of course, zombies were popular for awhile, faded out, and now are back with a vengence...so, who knows.

Hey, how's everyone been?

Anywho, I was having a conversation with my friend the other day about all these senseless, and predictable, ghost stories coming out. You know the ones we've seen a million times:

A guy/girl/family moves into this house where the family/guy/girl who once lived there either killed a family/girl/guy or themselves or some strange shit had started happening and everyone dissappeared. Despite signs and warnings, they continue to stay there in spite of seeing things move in the dark, the childs strange behavior, noises in places people or anything for that matter aren't, the old spooky room, attic, or basement, that holds a bunch of dark and "disturbing" books, video's, and articles about what was going on there, and etc.

Yes we have had that film to come out I think 3 or 4 time this year (The woman in black, last house on the left, Paranormal Activity 4, and Sinister, which I've only seen 1 out of the 4, but they're all the same) So you kinda get the picture?

But what does this have to do witht the title of the subject you say? Well it's more of a question as what has happened to it. What has happened to the good ol fashion slasher flick? Not a spoof or a a torture flick, but a good ol' fashion slasher flick with a killer with a big ax/knife/chainsaw, etc. killing teenagers or young adults? and that is not in 3D!!!!!

I mean we probably have a million of those already, but sometimes you get that feeling of wanting a good old flick. You could watch Jason, Freddy, Michael or some other flicks from the 80's and 90's, but has the slasher genre gone down hill. I mean there has been a long time since we have seen one in theatres, and honestly I wouldn't mind seeing one of it's fun, gory, and I damn sure mean GORY, and suspenseful: The main 3 key elements to make a good slasher flick.

So what do you guys think, has the slasher genre faded or being faded by ghost stories and torture flicks?

I will say I do enjoy me a good slasher flick. I do miss just watching some guy going around killing sexy teenagers in the throws of hot second-base action. Jason, I think, will always be my favourite. To me, he's just the ultimate slasher. Just a simple weapon, a simple mask, and the vengeful soul of a man who has a grudge that's fueled by log cabins =p

Okay, it is, but I could give a fuck because I didn't see it, for the reason that it was advertised as some type of ghost flick.

What I'm saying is that, we get a lot of shit like that now, instead of something original.

And another dumbass movie I forgot on that list was The Devil Inside Me....what a waste and poor excuse of a film, and I only watched like five minutes of it before I turned. I knew it was shit.

Now the only supernatural flick I am looking forward to is The Evil Dead remake. That movie looks badass....
