The remake, IMO, was good, not great. It was atleast better than it should've been, and a lot better then a lot of people were saying IMO.
But I think a direct-to-video sequel is already pushing it. I'm just not a fan of direct-to-video sequels, but it also doesn't even have a reason to exist. I'll pass.

I'm still kinda ify about it, but I saw that they cast Jaime Murray (Lila from Dexter and Gaia from Spartacus) so I'll at least give it a chance. She's pretty and makes my man parts happy.

2 minutes is never enough time to judge an entire film on.

Was the first scene after the intro anyway, just hated the while vibe I was getting. After sitting through The Thing remake remake I swore never again, if something starts smelling throw it out.

I don't think that anyone's ever made a valid argument to me for why Fright Night remake sucked so bad. It's always just "REMAKES SUCK REMAKES SUCK"

I didn't think it sucked. I thought it was enjoyable.
That's the problem with most people though, they hear the word remake and already hate it. Although I do prefer a new and creative idea, I'm all for remakes if they're done right, but they're usually never done right. They're either too much like the original or different movie completely.

I agree. The closed-minded attitude towards some remakes, EVEN WHEN THEY'RE OK, is ridiculous. I think people don't realize that just because a remake SHOULD suck, doessn't mean it will. I used to think this, and was surprised when I saw The Amazing Spider-Man.
Granted, there are remakes that are made purely for money and feel like they're purely made for money, but in Fright Night they tried really hard to catch the spirit of the original. People were so busy looking for something to shit on, that they missed out on an O.K. movie.

Agreed. The only movie I ever boycotted was The Thing that was made last year or so. I heard remake and ran. But, to say a movie sucks when you go into hating it and only sit through 2 minutes shows that you don't have an open mind for remakes. I have yet to watch the new Fright Night, but it's on my comp.

My stating the first 2 minutes was just that a statement and not the exact time. I did mention watching the first scene from after the initial start of the film.

No, I did not hate it because it is the remake it just didn't gel with me at all and gave off a bad enough vibe for me to not continue. was watching this with Den/adoptodad and he agreed...and he is pretty open to these type of movies.

As for hating all remakes please do not place me in that basket because that is bullshit. There are plenty of great remakes out there...this and The Thing remake remake, which unfortunately I sat all the way through, just weren't in this list.

Below is a link to GOOD remakes

That doesn't help your cause, but it's whatever. I highly suggest giving the movie a shot. It's been on my to-do list because of all the positive feedback on it. Just haven't been in a Colin Ferrell mood lately. If I am, I'll watch this and the shitty Total Recall remake. (A remake I am going into hating because of all the negative feedback. I heard they took out many elements of the original and this displeases me.)

It's not my cause just my personal feeling about the movie but as you said whatever so that is cool. I guess I see this movie in the way you won't go into that The Thing remake...and yeah you are right don't watch it as the only good bit is at the end during the credits.

The "sequel" is now being filmed in Bucharest, Romania.

When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend "Evil" Ed and ex-girlfriend AMY in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show "Fright Night," to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.
The vampire "Gerri" will now be a female character played by actress Jaime Murray (Deaths of Ian Stone, Dexter).
Chris Waller (Inbred) plays "Evil Ed".
Will Payne (Elfie Hopkins) plays "Charlie Brewster".
    Sean Power plays "Peter Vincent".
    Sacha Parkinson plays "Amy Peterson".

As if you couldn't already guess, this is more of a straight-to-DVD reboot rather than a sequel.

Oh lord. The remake was decent, just way too much CGI.

Hopefully with the release of this new sequel or whatever it is... someone will get to re-releasing the original Part 2.

Didn't like the first, so i don't think i'll be seeing this. I agree with DF, too much CGI for my liking.

Dredd had way too much CGI but still really worked regardless of it. Loved the remake. Fuck this reboot/sequel.

Sure Dredd has a lot of CGI, but that doesn't bother me because it's an action flick and a lot of those type of films have that. Personally, I prefer horror with practical effects... Fright Night didn't deliver on that part. 2 different genres dude, so it's not fair to bring Dredd into it.

It doesn't matter if it's a different genre, overuse of CGI is still overuse of CGI. I prefer all genres with practical FX work.

I stand by my point. CGI worked for Dredd and it didn't work for Fright Night at all. It doesn't help that the CGI was poor quality to begin with in Fright Night.
