Just finished watching Rosemary's Baby. You know slow-burning horror? Well that was a no-burning horror.
Not a single moment of suspense. It was an okay drama, I guess. I wanted to cut the husbands dick off a few times.
But I'd give that a 4/10.

Open Water.
Just saw it. Very little violence and gore, but intense on account of how bleak and grim it was. The moments when they're floating in the water at night - with the sharks - during the lightning storm was especially intense.

I'm sensing sarcasm, but I'm not sure what it could be about. There is no way you thought this movie was at all scary.

Glad you sensed the sarcasm because it was intentional. Rosemary's Baby is brilliant on many levels. Did I find this film scary? Yes...and disturbing. Of course it's not your bloodsoaked modern day horror film and not as fast paced, but rather a slow and cerebral journey into the horror of an innocent woman manipulated by her surroundings...the worst of course her own husband. We actually see the tragic situation Rosemary is in before she does which is due to wonderfull writing and top shelf directing. I've raely sided with a character so much and wished them out of danger as much as I did for poor Rosemary. Scared...you bet....to give your trust away is a hard thing to do in this life and what happened to her (gradually) was quite shocking. Not everyone's cup of tea I suppose but many rank this one in their top 10 of all time....including me.

Only downside of Rosemary's Baby was the ending imo. It wasn't horrible, but it kind of just ended.
Other than that, it's a brilliant film. Extremely disturbing

Clever satanists plotting to have the anti-christ brought into the world by conjuring up Satan himself to rape Rosemary, after her husband agrees to all of this and is a participant in her pain and suffering for financial rewards isn't horror to you ....lol.

Horror is so, so subjective it isn't funny. Everyone has a different look/take on the genre and the films that are generally classed, or not classed, as horror.
I haven't seen the film, but I've never heard of anyone saying it's not a horror. But, to each their own.

Trust me, Rosemary's Baby falls into one genre and only one....horror. To say otherwise is nonsense.
