    Deus Ex: Human Revolution movie

So, just caught wind this is being adapted to film by Scott Derrickson. Don't know if we have any Deus Ex fans here but I absolutely love all of the games, in particular the latest installment, and just thoroughly enjoy all things cyberpunk in general. It's been far too long since we've gotten something in the genre (Johnny Mnemonic 1995?), aside from The Matrix of course.

-For those not into video games, here's the plot: "Set in the near future, when dramatic advances in science, specifically human augmentation, have triggered a technological renaissance, Deus Ex: Human Revolution follows Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT security specialist who must embrace mechanical augments in order to unravel a global conspiracy.

Commenting on his attachment to Deus Ex, Derrickson stated, "Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence. By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can't wait to bring it to the big screen."

Hope Derrickson snags Ethan Hawke again to play Jensen, they look quite a bit alike as it is. Futuristic, dystopian, cyberpunk movies yessss

This can't come out soon enough.

    Thoughts?

Read about this earlier, was going to post about it, but forgot. Only played the most recent game, but really dug it. In the right hands the movie could be pretty epic

A mate told me it was a shit game, I've never read into it or anything, and don't know much about it. I might give it a crack before a movie comes out though. Although, if I like the game there is a decent chance at not liking the movie.

He's nuts. All three games are great, though the first two are a bit dated at this point. Then again, didn't you mention that your games are super-censored there? That could change things I suppose.

Video game to movie adaptations do have a long history of sucking, but that's got to change at some point right? In the same way that super hero movies actually started being good and not this:

I thought the recent version was a great stealth action game. Just wished it wasn't so short, but that seems to be the problem with most good games--never want'em to end

I wasn't aware there was older games? And yeah games are censored here is sucks. We have some of the Worlds laziest film laws but one of the tightest video games laws. It contradicts itself. Stupid fuck hole.

And hopefully, the best Video Game movie I've seen is by far Mortal Kombat!!
