The more and more I see about this the cheesier it looks. I hope not but this may just end up being another high, budget, proposed summer blockbuster where the posters end up being the best thing about it. Still holding out hope though...

I can't remember where I saw it but they have reports that are showing this movie most likely bombing at the box office. Something about the fact it is releasing the same day as Grown Up's 2 and that movie is trending to make a killing. I know, it sounds ridiculous

I never judge based on reviews, especially a Del Toro movie. However I have read some reviews and know people who have seen it and one complaint remains constant. All the fights between Jaegers and Kaiju are at night, in heavy rain, or under water. What this translates to is no really good glimpses of the Kaiju.

I have even heard that the best glimpses of the Kaiju you actually see are from news reports on TV's in the background of some scenes. I will be seeing this on Sunday and I have no doubt I will love it. But this news is a little upsetting.

If it was simply reviews saying this I wouldn't be that bummed. But I have good friends who share my views (our views) and passion for this sort of thing and they said although the movie was great this defintely detracted from it. Bottom line is we want to see the Kaiju, but it doesn't seem like we never fully get the eye candy regarding them that we want.

With that said, can't wait 'til Sunday!

I don't often go to the movies lately unless it's something I absolutely cannot wait to see, most recently 'This is the End'. I plan on going to see this one, possibly in IMAX 3D. I don't mind if you don't get a great look at the Kaiju if they at least make up for it with an impressive ending.

Just got back from the IMAX 3D, extremely fun movie. A bit cheesy at times but who the hell cares, really enjoyed it.

I kinda wish they gave it the high framerate treatment like in the Hobbit, might have made some of the action a little easier to follow. Aside from that I thought you get a good enough look at the Kaiju and Jaegers from start to finish, although it does ramp up toward the end of course.

The ending had to be a nod to Independence Day, right? Also plenty of room for a sequel there, I mean if they can open the breach once what's to stop them from doing it again.

Great movie, I watched it 3 times for my entire Friday. Go see Pacific Rim.

I ended up seeing this last night as my daughter is begging me to take her to see The Conjuring next week. With that said I didn't love this movie like I thought I would. Bacon nailed it about being a little cheesy and definitely a bit hokey at times. I had no problems with how much of the Kaiju I saw, if it wasn't mentioned in reviews I never would even think about it.

It is a great movie, the quintessential summer popcorn flick. But I thought I would have had a Del Toro boner throughout and been marveling about it after and I simply wasn't. This sounds like a negative write up but it really isn't. I would give it a solid 7.5 - 8/10. I think after all this time the movie was overhyped and we all got giddy about this being a Del Toro flick with giant fucking monsters fighting giant fucking robots and it would be an easy 10/10. Well it isn't. But it is still a GREAT flick.

On a side note, I went to a 9:30pm showing and the theater was only about half full
