The Barrens was terrible! Living in New Jersey my entire life and knowing the Pine Barrens so well along with all the stories associated with it this movie blows IMO. I couldn't even get a feel for the Pine Barrens as the setting they used isn't like it at all. It's as ridiculous as A Rumble In The Bronx being filmed in Vancouver.
**Had to edit my post as I quoted the wrong reply. Sorry...too much Kraken today.

I couldn't get into it as a movie period.
The Pine Barrens is an amazing place. It's made famous by the Jersey Devil but there are more documented accounts of aliens and ghosts than The Devil himself. I have friends in a few paranormal groups based out of New Jersey that have documented footage of unexplained figures (ghosts, not The Jersey Devil) along with a UFO.
The Pine Barrens is and has always been a dumping ground for the mafia. They want to hide a body they are dumping it down there. I have seen a thing or two in my nights staking out certain areas of it. It is a chilling place that is most certainly haunted...if you believe in that sort of thing

Good ole Tony Sirico (my favorite character in The Soprano's) and Frank Vincent! I have actually worked with Frank Vincent's brother...and he lives about 5 miles from me. Then there is Vincent Pastore...

I didn't see it but it's interesting to hear they made a film about the jersey devil. When i was little i knew a kid who was a bully who would scare me by telling me stories of the jersey devil and that he - or it - would come after me.
Speaking about the Carrie remake, I have mixed feelings on that. The first one was one of the best horror movies ever. If the new one gets bad word of mouth, I think I'll skip it - I don't want to see the story desecrated.

I just viewed SILENT NIGHT and it wasn't bad, nice light entertainment in fact and I would watch it again. Where they went wrong was the over use of CGI and I felt that things like the little smart arced girl getting killed could have been done a lot better...
Spoiler...say showing the fire poker going through the back of her head
Really liked the mulcher/chipper scene a lot
But in the end this was a decent movie that had the potential to be great.
