Blade Remake (With Idris Elba as the Daywalker)

Get those old cans of whup-ass out of the cupboard, because Blade screenwriter David S. Goyer has said he firmly believes Marvel Studios will reboot the vampire movie series.

The rights to the comic book property returned to the Disney-owned studio in 2011 and The Dark Knight Rises scribe believes a revival is inevitable. In a recent interview with Crave Online, Goyer said this:

Now that Marvel/Disney have recaptured the rights, I’m sure it will be [remade]. They made too much money on that character to not reboot him at some point…I mean, look, between merchandise and whatnot, that little character generated almost a billion dollars.

New Line Cinema released a trilogy of Blade movies starring Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire hunter between 1998 and 2004. The character was created for Marvel Comics by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, making his debut in 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula #10.

A completely new story, with Idris Elba in the lead, still fully R-rated. Awesome stuff.

I don't understand, is this your idea or is this some article maker's idea for a potential reboot?

Reboot why? The first one was enjoyable. Bring back Stephen Norrington, that's what's been missing from the sequels.

Come on man, would I post an idea of mine like this?!

I was having all sorts of trouble using the GUI buttons and it kept screwing up my post. Ended up the link never posted. I added it for your pleasure

Makes sense now, wasn't sure WTF was goin' on without a source

And I personally don't see the need to reboot Blade. I think it'd be hard to top Snipes, if anything, I'd just like to see another sequel that's dark, bloody, and badass like the first

    Found another link as well.

When I started this thread each time I tried to post the link with the link button it would link ALL of the text not just the link. I tried a few times and gave up. Thought I put the link in, but alas it was missing.

In my opinion nothing can top Blade 2. Del Toro

The first is the only one I'm ever compelled to watch again or own. Del Toro or not. The first one is the most stylish and the only one that, to me, finds that delicate balance between not taking itself too serious, and having fun as a comic book movie, without taking the lazy way out and going full camp because, "we're only making a comic book movie." The sequels tried too hard without the goods to go full-Nolan with the material. IMO.

I revisted the first film several months back and it's still every bit as kickass now as it was when it was released

Yeah, it'll always remind me too of my friend Ethan who died a few years ago because Blade became his method of rating other films from that point on, he and everyone in our circle being so surprised by how awesome it was. "How many Blades do you give that new...?" would be the question we'd ask Ethan about any new movie, because we knew, generally, if he gave it a high grade it meant we were likely to enjoy it too because he hated everything, lol. He gave the first Blade five-Blades.

    Mr. Cranky and his Blade-o-Meter.

I love Blade, awesome film. I've seen the first on.e a lot of times. A remake isn't needed though. I don't think anyone could out perform Wesley Snipes.

The first two are great and are two of the very best comic book films. I don't really see the point in a complete reboot either as I'd rather see a soft reboot/sequel with Wesley Snipes back in the role to make up for the disappointing 'Blade: Trinity' that would kickstart a new trilogy.

I'm guessing they may also be wanting to continue with the films, given it'll be one of the cheaper licenses turned into a movie, but they may be too afraid to bank on Snipes, since he's still in prison. That'd just be a guess though. He gets out this summer and it's not like he killed anyone or hurt anyone or robbed anyone or beat his wife. It's not like he's as bad as Mitt Romney or his crowd.

I'd go see another Blade with him as Blade. Blade without Snipes I've got as much interest in as a Robocop without Peter Weller.

Blade is awesome. Fact. Blade 2 was pretty fucking good too. Fact. Blade 3 was as hokey as shit, but had some good scenes. Personally, I don't think I'll bother watching it, and I agree with Fright when he says a much darker, bloodier sequel would be worth seeing. BRING ON THE GORE!!

Blade 2 was filmed with so much style it was busting at the seams! That ninja fight in front of the lights? That was amazing! The scene when Blade and the Blood Pack were walking into the club and the camera caught them from the ground looking up in slow motion with that kick-ass song playing! The first fight between Blade and Nomak in the sewer!

IMO the second is filmed with much more style than Blade. Not taking anything away from the original but 2 is where it is at for me.

With all that being said, I don't want a reboot.
