Just got back, I thought this was master class. It may retread on familiar territory but it does so in a manner that is superior to those that came before. The tension in the theater was palpable.

    9/10

Better than Sinister by a healthy distance, also better than Insidious for me personally.

I agree 100% 9 - possibly 9.5 from me. Those on my facebook already know how much I enjoyed this flick. Saw it twice now including the media screener.

#1 with an estimated 41.5 mil weekend take at the box office

This flicks production budget was only 20 mil. Doubled it in one weekend!

Well earned, I hope Wan doesn't stray from horror for too long, he is really hitting his stride.

Everyone has their own opinion. My opinion on whoever says that doesn't really know what they are talking about and/or went in with a negative attitude from the start. Anyone going to see a movie like this and expects to see 2 hours of completely new material that has never been done before is like someone following a rainbow and truly expecting to find a pot of gold at the end of it. There is only so much you can do with each genre, it is up to the director to make it feel fresh and new. Wan does exactly that. Can't ask for much more and that's why I thought it was fantastic.

You see that a lot with horror fans. So many people go into the theater already knowing what they're going to say about it afterwards. Its kind of sad, and a waste of money, imo. But whatever churns your butter I guess...

I actually really enjoyed the conjuring, went last night with hommie and it actually had some good intense scenes.

I Haven't seen many since, but imo it's the best horror movie since cabin in the woods

It was a cool flick. I enjoyed the characters and the scares. First 20 or so minutes felt like a typical cliched ghost film, then it turned itself around rather quickly. Although I did predict what was going to happen most of the time, it did offer some quality scares. I'd say this is probably the best ghost/possession film to be released in quite some time.

It's inevitable that people won't like this movie, whether for reasons that are of pure and honest opinion or just people being disillusioned or contrarian (more likely imo.)

If we're gonna talk about things having been done before, we wouldn't have many movies today if the themes and stories told by Shakespeare and the like weren't allowed to be repeated or re-imagined.

From a technical standpoint alone this was just an expertly crafted movie in my own opinion.

I feel the same way, Cabin has been a favorite of mine in recent history but I think it's finally been dethroned. Although they're sort of apples and oranges.

Good flick. Found it a little cliched and the ending a bit rushed, but it was pretty creepy I thought and I loved the cast.
