This comes out this week, can't wait to see it again. Although The World's End also comes out this week if you have to choose between the two of them, go with this. You can't go wrong either way as both are fantastic films.

it was "meh" at best. The internet really hyped this one up to where I was expecting one epic slasher movie, and while it had good parts in it it still wasn't that great of a movie over all. Nothing made me jump, you see everything coming a mile away and they take the mystery out of it about half way through the movie. I mean its not terrible. Its worth watching a matinee or renting or something. Just nothing I'll ever watch again.

Chief said it. MEH. Wasn't bad, but was already way over-hyped. I liked The Strangers and Funny Games more and the "twist" was nothing special and I had already suspected it early in the film. I will say that it did have one memorable final girl.

Got to see a pre-release screening last week with intro by A J Bowen and really enjoyed it after being kinda disappointed with The Conjuring. Bowen is practically unrecognizable now that both he and his beard are trimmed down. Crampton was also in town but wasn't there for my screening.

What set this apart for me was the smart humor and the family dynamic. It didn't really bring anything new to the table and you could smell the big twist coming all the way from the first act but it was just solidly done and brutal while being darkly humorous. I wish that the invaders had never removed their masks, however. If they'd never taken them off, ever, I'd have given it an extra star...and somehow I knew that the song from the trailer wasn't going to be in the film but I was really hoping that it was.

Had Brian been able to make The Strangers as it was written I'd rate this below that film but knowing how he was forced to make changes (that ultimately end up being things a lot of horror fans dislike about the film) I've got to rate this higher in the home invasion sub-genre. It's a more enjoyable film, to me, based on casting alone.

Yeah, most over hyped movie I won't see in theaters. They are usually not worth it.
