Filming for Godzilla has officially began

In the trailer, you can clearly see a clip of a monster flying down through the clouds and then it's tail as it decends into water. Also, there's a brief clip of a monster's claw like foot landing in the middle of people. So yes, there are other monsters in thsi film.

Legendary's Godzilla (2014) will be featured at next week's San Diego Comic-Con and today, the first official plot synopsis for Godzilla has been revealed, on Comic-Con's schedule for July 20th, when the Godzilla preview will take place.This new official synopsis confirms that there will be multiple monsters facing Godzilla in the 2014 reboot!

I noticed the claw. The shape coming down out of the clouds I think was one of several jet fighters we see knocked into the ocean in the next cut. But, yeah, that claw was not Big G.

Also, the Spikes that cut through the train bridge don't look like Godzilla's spikes shown in other scenes......another monster?

Ok i finally broke down and watched the trailer for this......i am so fuckin sold on this looks badass!! As to all the monsters hes gonna battle if you go to screen rant they break down the trailer and they have about six or sevenmonsters from the other movies that could be the other mutos hes gonna fuck up

A new Snickers advertisment. I like how they have a very Showa era Godzilla promoting a Godzilla film that's problebly as dark as the orriginal or early Heisei era. Still, it is nice to see Godzilla in mainstream advertisments in America again, and this can spread word faster on the movie.

Awkward design. Nowhere near the Toho classics.

Toho produced plenty of silly, awkward and ugly designs. People just give them credit for the ones that work, like Hitchcock. People only remember the 10% or so of what he made that still gets watched.

Even one of the greats, Rodan, is an awkward design that lacks both appeal or basic proportional believability. It is what it is. They did the best they could with how they were making kaiju movies and you have to just go into it respecting their handicap.

The other thing is, you're likely to never see it all at once like this because that breaks the rules for how to make something look big. By itself there is no sense of scale, not to mention toy sculptors, especially American toy sculptors, aren't known for either their accuracy of being "on model" or fit and finish or any particular talent interpreting a design into a compelling scale toy or model.

Look at Star Wars toys. Everything is low detail and fatter than it should be. Toy companies don't give a shit over here and the results tend to look like they gave some hack a day to rough out a sculpt before going into production.

^What are you talking about, those look awesome. I'd take any of those any day of the week over what we're getting in this new Godzilla movie (even the design of Godzilla himself).

I'm not saying they're not awesome, but look at them and look at the new monster, I'm just pointing out that it's bizzare and ackward design is far from new for Godzilla films. For the record though, posting that reminded me that Monster X existed, a testament to just how much Final Wars failed when the newest monster in the franchise (until May) and one with a very distinguished design is forgotten.
