PC games have been using a one-off can't sell used copies for quite a while now and PC game sales have in fact INCREASED over the past few years. There's the good way to do DRM (most Steam games) and the bad way (most EA games), but the bottom line is online DRM is going to happen though I think a constant connection is really unnecessary. While I'm a fan of collecting physical media (and I still buy some PC games on disc) the discount on downloadable titles is more than enough to make up for not having a box.
