I couldn't really bitch about this movie enough without spoiling things, so if you don't wanna know how this flick goes don't read this post.
I thought this was a great idea for a movie. Maybe Mary Shelley's famous novel was based on actual events. Maybe the monster still lives out in the wilderness somewhere? Wanna go look for him? Fuck it why not! If that had been done right I'd been very happy with this flick, but unfortunately its not.
We spend a bit over an hour before Franky even decides to show up. Its just people bitching, arguing, and trampling around in the snow for a pretty good long while. Things finally start to get weird and what happens? Each dumbass (even the guide!) decides to go off on their own to see what's going on and they all end up dying off screen. That's right. Hear a noise, go investigate, and be either found dead or heard being killed off screen but some big guy that's supposed to be The Frankenstein Monster. Then he gets down to the girl. Theres not even a suspenseful chase or anything. He just conks her over the head and drags her off and the movie ends. That's pretty much it. You don't even get a good look at him. Just some big guy covered in a fur coat.
They didn't even do a good job explaining why this guy things Frank is where he is. I mean yeah he has these letters that are supposedly from the real doctor that were later used for the book. How did they come into Mary Shelleys possession? Dunno. Couldn't this just been the ravings of a lunatic? Conveniently no one decides to bring that up. Why are we in THIS particular spot? They try explaining that one with this lame "he's following the caribou" story but for some reason that didn't set well with me. I mean the one area you decide to check out is where he ends up being in ALL that wilderness? I didn't buy that. I dunno why I keep checking out these POV movies, because they pretty much all suck ass. V/H/S had some fun stuff in it but its nothing I'd sit down and watch again. So in conclusion this movie is terrible, its on the watch instantly list on Netflix, but I wouldn't bother.
