First one I loved, second I couldn't get into. Maybe with this installment, it will help me finish the second one.

The problem with Arkham City was the scale of the game itself was masked by all side missions. I beat the main story in less than three nights. Great game but man was it short. Pretty awesome boss fights though

Agreed.
Hate to be THAT guy or complain about a game being too "x", but I felt the game was way too big. It works for Grand Theft Auto and other sandbox games, but I felt that this game was way too massive with way too many things to do. The first one was perfect and finding out the second took place in the city had me really excited, but I felt that there was just too much. It was a little overwhelming for me. I guess I don't like the fact that there were all these Riddler trophies around that I couldn't get to in the beginning. They were much more complicated to get and I got sick of it fast.
I do love the beat 'em up aspect of it, and everything else about the game is amazing (Mark Hamill ), but idk, something about it was really off putting. Maybe I need another go of it.

Ah, you bunch of whiners.. there was plenty to do. The Riddler trophies were a lot of fun to collect. I collected all of them (not the Catwoman ones, though), and beat The Riddler which was awesome. Then there's all the other shit to find.

I think you missed my point. I agree there is tons to do and the Riddler trophies were fun but it all came at the expense of a very short main story line.
I would have rather take away a lot of those side quests and made the main story bigger and longer. I couldn't believe the end was really the end

Considering one takes place in a sort-of real life environment and one is located in Arkham City where you play as Batman, I don't see how you can compare the two. Arkham Asylum was extremely repetitive, but I didn't mind because I was playing as Batman and beating up goons.
I agree with Mac on the side quests though. That's what made me feel overwhelmed. That kind of game needs to be a bit more linear like the first one.

Punching out The Riddler was the most satisfying part of the game for me. Take that, Riddler.

Bought this game for 20 dollars brand new. For some reason it's not available to purchase online. This game is pretty good so far. I like the plot of 8 assassins being sent to kill Batman. The first boss fight with Killer Croc was cool. Don't know why this game was bashed so much by critics. I'm enjoying it so far.
