you're not alone here Fright...the books are much better...and a lot more bloodier...of course they would make a "tweeny" type movie for more of a profit.. Read the books becasue the wifey wanted me to and was real surprised...movie wasn't as strong IMO...but it is Jennifer L

they left a lot out the first time around, but that's no surprise. The books are always better. But hey it was still a good flick. Jennifer Lawrence is a great Katniss and I'm lookin forward to it. Woody Harrelson is absolutely perfect as Haymitch. I like Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch as well although he doesn't look the part that I pictured from the books. In the books I pictured him as Ian Mcneice (I love that guy!)

Too many girls are obsessed with the first film for me to actually see it. Reminds me of the POS Twilight series. Maybe I'll check it later down the road if it hits Netflix, but for now..

If you're worried about it being too heavy on the romantic side, like the Twilight films, then you shouldn't fret, although there's a bit of that early on and again later, it's focused primarily on the games and just trying to survive.

I always thought it would just be a ripoff of Battle Royale

I thought so too, but it's actually quite different. BR was more focused on the violence and blood, where Hunger Games was more character/story driven. BR is still a far superior film, but Hunger Games was still entertaining. I think the fact that I went in with low-expectations really helped.

Early on before watching the first film I was worried about the same thing. I saw the books and saw the trailer when it came out and thought, "Oh, this series is in the same vein as Battle Royale". The author claimed to never have read the book or seen the BR film before but after watching it I was very much entertained. There ARE similarities but not so much where for the fans of BR it ruins the film watching experience. You should like it.

One shouldn't be concerned with the popularity of a film series by teenagers. It's going to be a fun series to watch. You should enjoy it regardless of what teenagers are raving about.

Please don't tell me what I "should" or "should not" enjoy. I will watch something based on personal feelings toward it. Now, please move on with your day.

Don't need it. Everyone has different tastes, different moods for different films and different motivation for watching certain movies. As a fellow movie lover, I thought you'd understand that. Not something I "should enjoy".

Just concentrate on your own tastes and don't worry about others so much

Oh no, when I said "should" I wasn't using that word to tell you to watch it, I meant I'm sure you will like if you watch it. That's all. Of course I wouldn't be bold enough to order someone to view a film they don't want to. Never.
