The Appearing is a psychological thriller about a woman once controlled by a mysterious entity and she uncovers a shocking secret about her past and must face the demon that is still lurking inside of her.
It’s a thriller. It’s a horror. It’s a mystery. And we the filmmakers tried keeping it in the vein of Hitchcock, who was the ultimate master of suspense.
When you think of Hitchcock, and his incredible body of work, a good story and theme is always anchored at the center of his films. That had such an impact on the way I went about preparing for this film and we tried our best to approach our movie in the same vein. We actually were able to film a portion of the movie at the original Psycho House on Universal Studios backlot, which was an incredible experience.
Blood, guts, and gore, can always be entertaining with low-budget horror, but we tried to advert back to just good ole fashion storytelling. Whether we succeeded or not, the audience can be the judge of that. five films that inspired us to make this movie would be: Psycho, Marnie, Jaws, The Exorcist, and Seven.
We have signed with Spotlight Pictures for International Sales and are currently in final negotiations for our domestic deal with a major distributor. Find out more about the movie on Facebook, where you can win VIP Guest Invitations to our first LA screening as guests of the cast, director and producers! We will have 5 winners (2 tickets each) so please encourage your friends to participate for a chance to be one of the first to watch “The Appearing”.
