Well we can just all lie to each other and say we like certain movies when we actually don't!

Well, if they just say they don't like it, or they found it boring, or they didn't get it. Sure. But that's not what they do. That's not what you did. When you go further to pass judgement on people who do like it or do get it, now you have opened yourself to judgement in return and commentary. You have engaged, provoked or otherwise begged for a fight at that point. And that's what you did when you said:

If you must have it, well have it then. Don't be like all the others who troll and then play innocent. Freedom of speech does not include freedom from retort. When you say a provocative thing, make a declarative statement, you are begging for a response. It's disingenuous to plea otherwise.

And I'm as guilty of that as anyone, I'll admit, but I do try to watch it. Because I don't really care if I'm called out knowing the other person is wrong and they just don't know any better or they're trying to win when they know they aren't right. I do hate it when I'm called out and I know the other person got me and even I know I said something wrong. Like if I was to say audiences who liked Saw have no taste and no capacity to recognize shitty filmmaking, or more specifically, shitty writing. It's how I feel but I know I'm wrong to say it, so I try not to say it too loud.

Oh, but please don't take this as anything but spirited debate. I'm certainly not mad or hating on you. That I reserve for the kind of people who do that sort of thing in threads about a specific film because they can't stand other people enjoying it and they have to repeatedly inject their crap, going out of their way to purposely troll a thread about a subject any reasonable person would have avoided. A reasonable, non-troll, non-attention-whore would ignore it perhaps after issuing a single declaration of dissatisfaction so that they get whatever satisfaction comes, that they crave, from knowing someone heard their voice and their thought on a subject. A lot of folks aren't satisfied with that and so they inject themselves and their shitty attitude into other people's enjoyment of something.

Those people are here but I don't recall ever seeing you be like that so it's all good. You don't have to like 2001 and it's no reflection on you.

The sequels are silly but Pitch Black is actually well worth checking out, unless you just hate Vin Diesel.

George Romero transformed the Western Rio Bravo into a horror movie when he made Night of the Living Dead, and John Carpenter (likely influenced by both films) took it slightly sideways from there, into urban paranoia with Assault on Precinct 13. Pitch Black takes a step back into horror territory while taking a step forward into scifi/fantasy and does so to much greater satisfaction than when Carpenter repeated himself while attempting to do the same in Ghosts of Mars.

The sequels likely aren't good because he didn't have a pre-existing framework to simply change setting, sub-genre and monster type for.

I've never seen any of the Hangover movies.

Lately, I get hassled by a few people for refusing to see the most recent Star Trek. I know enough from the first film and what I've read about the sequel to know I will wait for the next reboot by different creatives before I'll give the franchise another chance.

I refuse to see Looper on personal grounds even though a couple good friends worked on it. I don't even doubt that it's likely good, even though it's a time travel movie.

I regretted giving in to pressure to see Avatar so, on these, I'm sticking to my guns.
