I hear ya, I think I had appropriate expectations going in, it was just a bit too much of a slow burn with not enough payoff in the end for me.

That said, I generally don't go for low-budget stuff unless the performances and/or writing are exceptional to compensate for budgetary shortcomings. Still, even though it wasn't my cup of tea, I'll admit they did a pretty nice job for such a shoestring budget and short filming period.

I think what sealed it for me was the chemistry between the buddies. They complimented each other nicely, and IMO the dialogue they deliver and scenarios they work their way through are more in line with the realities of what people would say or do, and how one would act in a given situation. For me this makes all the difference these days when i'm looking for a flick.
Agreed. In a world full of these "out there" zombie flicks, this is the most realistic one I have seen. I loved the dialogue and thought the slow burning aspect really fit the film well. This movie proved that it didn't need any useless characters and a huge amount of gore to be great.

Finally got around to this. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Felt there were too many lingering bits that slowed the pace down too much and I didn't like the introduction of The Orchard if there was gonna be no payoff.
