Wife and I just saw this tonight. Wow...what a fantastic film. Very original, well done from top to bottom. If you get a chance, don't miss it.

Good movie up until..

The last 10 minutes when the train derails. I mean really, every survivor on board is completely fucked. Surely all the food that was on the train is done, all the aquatic life is dead and the remaining people who venture out into the cold will die. There are animals out there to hunt, but I doubt they will make it regardless. No one knows any survival skills whatsoever. If Evans just took over the train/killed Wilford it would have ended better for everyone. Evans wanted people to have a better life, yet now everyone is fucking dead/dying, including the children.

Just didn't care for that ending, unless I'm missing something.

Movie was pretty damn good, even better than I expected. I'm glad they convinced the Weinstein's to keep it as-is, because I personally didn't see anything that needed to be cut. Good characters, action and pacing, along with a great story. 8/10

Agreed with the FM's points on this. Top notch dystopia on full display. An 8/10 at the minimum. Procurement is in order as it deserves a place on the Solo Shelf of Fame.

Good movie, but I had a few problems with it.

Once you get through the first 15-20 minutes or so, the movie really picks up. The best part of the movie is when they are going through the carriages, and we get a great satire of society.

The actors:

*Chris Evans is a boring actor, but at least he's not annoying.
*The Korean actor, Song Kang-ho would have made a better lead (although then it would be harder to sell in international markets).
*Ewen Bremner should have been given more, as well.
*John Hurt shows up, again.
*Alison Pill was funny, I never heard of her before but she was great.
*Although the standout is Tilda Swinton, she had the most memorable lines.

Ed Harris as the villain isn't exactly the most original casting choice (if you've seen History of Violence, The Truman Show, Enemy At the Gates, etc).

*The bodyguard dude reminded me of Agent Smith or something. Dude seemed unstoppable like the Terminator.

Other issues I had with the film:

*A few pacing problems - it does take a while to really get going and right near the end Chris Evans stops to give a lot of exposition which really slowed the movie down "cool story bro"
*The ending left a lot of questions

Pros:

*Some interesting ideas
*Some great action scenes
