Great list, everyone, but it came to Genesis vs Dog Soldiers...

Genesis is a perfect 10! Ren gets my vote.

Same here plus I love The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue as well.

Pretty tough choice though considering everyone has movies I like.

Make a list of just 5 movies seems simple, but is not so much when you have so many movies in the head and sometimes you are not sure which direction to take.

Thanks for the votes and I'm glad you enjoyed my list. : )

Round 1 Match 1....3 Way opener Renacimiento Vs Dmhead777 Vs Hommie

I was hoping to be able to watch some of Renac's movie to be fair. I also see how the voting is starting, I thought it was the best list and not most popular... Like usual.... Anyway...

Renacimiento_The House That Screamed (1969) ~ Narciso Ibáñez Serrador - never seen
_Sleep Tight (2011) - Jaume Balagueró never seen
_Genesis (1998) - Nacho Cerdà never seen
_Tesis (1996) - Alejandro Amenábar never seen
_No profanar el sueño de los muertos (1974) / Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti - Jorge 5.5/10 ok movie IMO

    Dmhead777_ Evil Dead 2 - Sam Raimi - 1987 classic 10/10
_Fright Night - Tom Holland - 1985 good movie 6/10
_American Werewolf in London - John Landis - 1981 6/10 I like the dark comedy
    _Hellraiser - Clive Barker - 1987 classic 9/10
_Dog Soldiers - Neil Marshall - 2002 good but not great 6/10

    Hommie
    _Zombie(originally titled Zombi 2) (Lucio Fulci, 1979) I like, and it's fulcis best 6/10
_Demons, Lamberto Bava 1985 awesome 9/10
_Night of the Creeps, Fred Dekker (1986) thrill me 8/10
    _Friday the 13th, Sean S. Cunningham 1980 a classic 7.5/10
    _Poltergeist-Tobe Hooper-1982 scared me as a kid 6.5/10

5.5 vs 37vs 37... Comes down to hell raiser and evil dead 2 vs demons and night of the creeps... Gonna go with dm on this one...
Still don't get how people are Pickinh Renac's list over the classics on dm and hommies...

If I had seen 'Sleep Tight' then Ren would have most likely received my vote, too. He has a great list, in my opinion.

I've only seen The house that screamed on an Elvira dvd set and havent seen any of the others...embarrassing.

    Dmhead777
    _ Evil Dead 2 - Sam Raimi - 1987
    _Fright Night - Tom Holland - 1985
_American Werewolf in London - John Landis - 1981
    _Hellraiser - Clive Barker - 1987
    _Dog Soldiers - Neil Marshall - 2002

Solid list from DM, ED2 is one of my fav movies ever and Dog Soldiers is amazing. The other films are horror royalty...damn good work son.

    Hommie
    _Zombie(originally titled Zombi 2) (Lucio Fulci, 1979)
    _Demons, Lamberto Bava 1985
_Night of the Creeps, Fred Dekker (1986)
    _Friday the 13th, Sean S. Cunningham 1980
    _Poltergeist-Tobe Hooper-1982

Great list here as well with some horror staples and two of my favs, Demons and NotC. Wow you and DM have me at an almost tie. I'm going to go with my gut and go with DM's list because I feel that ED2 tips the scales the tiniest bit in his favor. Good list though Hommie.

My vote goes to DM. I've only seen TLDATMM on Ren's list - +3. Thanks for the recs, mate.

    Dmhead777_ Evil Dead 2 - Sam Raimi - 1987 +3
    _Fright Night - Tom Holland - 1985 +3
_American Werewolf in London - John Landis - 1981 +3
    _Hellraiser - Clive Barker - 1987 +3
    _Dog Soldiers - Neil Marshall - 2002 +2

    14

I actually love 'Dog Soldiers', but it's the lesser of the list in comparison to the other films and I didn't want to give a perfect score as I feel that would be too generous.

    Hommie
_Zombie(originally titled Zombi 2) (Lucio Fulci, 1979) +1 (way overrated but passable)
    _Demons, Lamberto Bava 1985 +2
_Night of the Creeps, Fred Dekker (1986) +2
    _Friday the 13th, Sean S. Cunningham 1980 +2
    _Poltergeist-Tobe Hooper-1982 +3

_The House That Screamed (1969) ~ Narciso Ibáñez Serrador (Classic in my opinion!)
_Sleep Tight (2011) - Jaume Balagueró (Like this movie a lot, very tense and bizarre.)
_Genesis (1998) - Nacho Cerdà (Bored me to tears.)
_Tesis (1996) - Alejandro Amenábar (I did see this but don't remember much of it. I guess that speaks for it.)
_No profanar el sueño de los muertos (1974) / Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti - Jorge (Never even heard of this one.)

    Dmhead777
_ Evil Dead 2 - Sam Raimi - 1987 (It's Evil Dead 2, what else is there to say!)
_Fright Night - Tom Holland - 1985 (Still holds up as one of the best vamp movies ever made!)
_American Werewolf in London - John Landis - 1981 (I had this as my next pick in the same round. Best werewolf move ever, IMO)
_Hellraiser - Clive Barker - 1987 (Freaky, gruesome, and iconic in both narrative and characters.)
_Dog Soldiers - Neil Marshall - 2002 (A little overrated but a good werewolf movie otherwise.)

    Hommie
_Zombie(originally titled Zombi 2) (Lucio Fulci, 1979) (To this day, still some of the best looking zombies ever!)
_Demons, Lamberto Bava 1985 (Good movie with too many flaws for me. That helicopter )
_Night of the Creeps, Fred Dekker (1986) (Possibly one of my favorite horror films when I was a kid. Still holds up today!)
_Friday the 13th, Sean S. Cunningham 1980 (Classic. Nothing else to say!)
_Poltergeist-Tobe Hooper-1982 (Good haunted house flick that actually doesn't hold up. And I still say Speilberg had more to do with the making of this than Hooper.)

This was a good matchup and it ultimately came down between DM and Hommie. Poltergeist and Demons were the weak links for me, vote went to DM.

Yes because sleep tight did more for the horror genre then evil
Dead 2 or hellraiser.. Shit, if Dm had just those two he should win ahead of Renac's just because as strt said, they're horror royalty and are better mvoies.. I really don't get why I still play in these drafts, because I get annoyed by people's votes... Between people just voting for their friends, people voting because one movie On a list is their favorite or people voting because they don't like someone. Orlock, I am probally digging my grave by venting but we'll consider it a conspiracy :elstare:

I was under the assumption we were voting for how much we liked the films, not 'what they did' for the horror genre. At least that's how I vote. I don't see the point in pretending to like certain films more than others just because they're critically acclaimed, spawned a million sequels, cross-overs, and copycats, or because of some cult status that the horror majority bless them with.

Film is subjective; it's an art form. You can't quantify art, and people are going to like different things.

Admittedly, people should maybe have to score the lists to prove that the list they are voting for is the one they like the best. This would remove any voter ambiguity. Although, for the most part, I don't really see a problem with the voting so far.

Sorry for the double post, but films should be scored for their quality alone and nothing else. That's the fair and right way to do it.

    EDIT: Judge the movies objectively.
