Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, The Darkest Hour, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) is producing what's said to be the "world's first POV action movie" with director Ilya Naishuller at the helm. Some of you may remember him as the director of the music video short for Biting Elbows (short seen below). "We have wild action, we have lots of stunts that haven’t been done before, and we have a strong story," said Naishuller. You can expect the look and style of the short to be the same for the feature film, which is being shot with a GoPro camera.
Titled Hardcore and starring Sharlto Copley (District 9) the story is centered on a cyborg created at a secret Moscow laboratory who is trying to find a girl he was in love with in his previous life. "In line with the title, this will be a very hardcore film, R-rated. It’s going to be an absolutely male film," Naishuller added.
Actor Sharlto Copley was quoted saying: "I saw [Naishuller’s video], and it was amazing, it was a very different approach to action. He’s almost reinventing the action genre for the new generation. We work on a very small budget, but it gives us a level of freedom to try things and to experiment."

There's no doubt the music video is amazing, but whether we can watch a full length feature in that format remains to be seen. I even said it myself after initially watching the video that I don't think I could take a full movie like that, but we'll see. So far I dig the casting and it has the right people behind it, so it may actually work out. I can only hope there's a shit ton of parkour because that's what really stood out for me in the video.
