Almost every movie everyone else mentioned. I was a big puss as a kid but I couldn't stop watching them.

Jaws- I was 4 and my parents took me to drive inn cause they couldn't find a babysitter. They thought I would sleep through it. They were wrong and I don't swim in the ocean because of it.

Don't be Afraid of the Dark- the original TV movie, I was 6 and that movie kept me up for days! Great stuff!

Poltergeist for me too. Saw it in the theater when I was 5. My brother would just say the word "Poltergeist" and I'd freak out. Took me a while to get over that one.

Night of the Living Dead when I was 8 years old followed by John Carpenters Halloween. I pretty much spent 3 days straight making sure no zombies were outside and Michael Myers wasn't inside my closet.

Can't remember what was first but I had a couple bad experiences. Dawn of the dead where the dude was climbing in the window of a car or truck or something and a zombie took a big bite of the meat of his calf got to me. There was also the time when in candyman the kid got his junk cut off. I was too afraid to sleep with my shit to the sky for like a year so I was always on my stomach. Good times.

Even before Pennywise...and before Chucky...I remember the twisting head of Regan MacNeil. I think that's the earliest memory I have of being absolutely petrified.

John Carpenter's Halloween. It premiered on HBO not long after my family moved to the city and got cable for the first time. I wasn't supposed to watch it, and had been told explicitly not to, but I was flipping through channels when it opened and I stood there, a foot away from the screen, eight years old, watching up to the point where his mother and father show up and un-mask Michael. I ran screaming from the room and it'd be another year or two before I tried watching it again and loved it.

It's been my favorite horror film since.

My sister and her boyfriend at that time took me when it opened here in NY on Halloween night. They were babysitting me while my parents were away and had no choice but to take me. I'll never forget how scared I was...pretty much frozen in my seat. My sister claims I cried at the end when MM kept getting up...I don't remember that but as much as I remember being scared I loved every minute of it.
