    American Hustle

    Looks good. Solid cast.

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the States, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell's previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.

Just caught this, very very good character driven crime drama. I'd give it an easy 8/10 without thinking too much on it. Awesome cast, a lot more people were in it than I had realized. Great to see De Niro be a bit frightening again instead of a caricature. Could barely recognize Christian Bale, he was fantastic. Special shout out to Amy Adams' cleavage.

Good movie with some great performances and it's surprisingly funny at times as well. 7/10

I only watched the beginning and didn't get into it. It looks like a good movie and I would like to finish it, but so far not impressed.

Amy Adams' cleavage I've read deserves its own awards category.

Dynamite film, mostly. I loved the look. I love pseudo verite as well, when it's done right. It worked for a lot of the scenes it was used in though that calls attention to the more scripted, conventionally acted scenes at times. Adams and Lawrence were amazing and scary good in their roles, dead on. I think that only Bale was working on their level here, with the rest coming across far more comedic.

Amy Adams is one of those rare women who's actually become more attractive as she's aged. I never thought much of her ten or twelve years ago when I first saw her do a terrible job of taking on the role Sarah Michelle Gellar nailed in the first Cruel Intentions for what would serve as the sequel. Not until *Sunshine Cleaning*, really. Wow. And Lawrence was able to make me forget all about how adorable and cute she is in interviews and become someone really toxic and manic.

I just got done watching this, and wow, great film. A solid 8/10 for me. The acting in this film just blew me away. Admittedly, this is one of the first movies I have seen Lawrence in and I am impressed, she was a real bitch.

I've only seen her in Silver Lining's Playbook before this, where she was...um...yeah, she was crazy in that too, and sorta obnoxious too but in a more endearing way. She does crazy and toxic very believably. I felt so bad for Bale's character, lol.
