    Avatar 2

Looks like the movie is a go and Ahnold will be the villain.

It's been almost 20 years since the last movie directed by James Cameron featured Arnold Schwarzenegger, but it looks like the two of them may be reuniting in a big way. According to Latino-Review, Schwarzenegger will be playing a villainous general for Cameron in AVATAR 2. It was recently announced that the AVATAR series will be a quadrilogy, but it's not clear if Arnold Schwarzenegger would be playing the villain in just the sequel or all three of the upcoming films.

I loved Avatar the first time I watched it, but as I watched it two more times it got more and more boring to me

But I don't see the point in knocking Arnold. The guy could have easily retired and although I didn't like the Last Stand, his other cameo's were awesome. I look forward to all the other films he's coming out with. I'll even give this one a chance, but I doubt it will be on repeated viewings.

I have never bothered to watch Avatar, doesn't look like my cup of tea. But Arnold makes 2 a little more intriguing for me, although I will probably never see this one either.

Him with Stallone in Escape Plan looks pretty fuckin' awesome to me

Well Cameron has always brought out the best in Arnold. You could argue the best movies Arnold has made were with Cameron at the helm.

That said, I really don't give a shit about Avatar. Haven't bothered to watch it because of how silly it looked from afar.

Though Arnold has always had that star quality about him. Most of his older movies were entertaining whether they were good popcorn movies or complete shit for shit. He's at that point in his career though, given his age where he'll probably take whatever movies he can get. Maybe reuniting Cameron will allow him to pursue some better projects before he drops dead on a film set or retires for good.

Avatar did nuthin' for me. Yeah, the FX were cool and the story was OK - when it was over I wasn't even thinking about a sequel....but I love Arnold - always have and will prolly go see this.

Agreed with Red. Cameron knows how to use Arnold... However Avatar was a derivative and ho hum. Don't expect much else from the sequels.

Looking forward to this! I love the first Avatar movie. It's probably only boring to some because it's a movie that explores a new world and takes advantage of the amazingness that it is to be taken to a new world and to explore most of it, something we really haven't seen since 1982's The Dark Crystal (oh, if you haven't seen the Dark Crystal you need to have your batteries checked).

But to each's own, I thought it was good. I look forward to more of these movies, though it kind of disappoints me that Cameron decided to drop the Battle Angel adaptation to make Avatar movies, but by the time they're all complete he'll be making so much fucking money he'll be Tony Stark.

It's boring because we've seen whiteman saves the savages story 100s of times. But this time they're in front of a green screen! Also the symbolism in this film was unobtainium... it went right over my head.

Update: 20th Century Fox has told THR that Schwarzenegger's involvement with AVATAR 2 is not true. Maybe things could change or perhaps Fox just wants to keep things quiet for now, but at this point the actor is not attached to the film.
Oh well. Not like I was going to see this anyway. What little chance there was that I would just got on da choppa and flew away.

    God help us

When I first saw Avatar I was about 90% sure that Stephen Lang's Colonel Quaritch was either computer generated or somehow CG-enhanced. I guess that isn't the case, but he looks more like a Final Fantasy cut scene character than any human being I have ever before seen.

Maybe he'll be CGI for real next time, as James Cameron has revealed that the dead baddie will be returning not only in Avatar 2 but also Avatars 3 and 4. How?

“I’m not going to say exactly HOW we’re bringing him back, but it’s a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who’s also become a good friend.”

Deadline is calling him the 'Darth Vader' of the series, which clearly means the repeating baddie, but could also mean he's going to be cyborg in nature. That would make sense with Avatar's thudding environmental themes - the good guys hairfuck dragons and talk to trees and the bad guys will be made of robot parts.

Quaritch is only the latest dead character from Avatar confirmed to return in the sequels. Sigourney Weaver will be reprising her role of Catlady, but I'm assuming as a Force Ghost. I expect it to be revealed that everybody who died in the first film will show up in the sequels in a sort of fan service. Who that fan is, I couldn't tell you.

Thankfully Lang is able to get time away from Terra Nova to reprise his role.

    omg

I can't believe the guy who gave us the terminator and Burke from Aliens created such a lame villain. And they're bringing him back CGI-ified?

    I hate James Cameron, seriously.

I could care less about Avatar and these upcoming sequels. I watched a bit of the first but just lost interest in it and didn't bother to finish it. So i'll stay off board the Avatar hype train.

All 4 Avatar sequels have finished shooting now moving into a lengthy post production

Ok I saw the first avatar in theaters saw it on christmas night with my parents and a cousin. We saw it in 3D and the effects and everything were impressive it was a great experience that being said the plot of the film is so generic and is a mishmash of lots of other sci fi films. It's not the greatest film ever but James Cameron has announced that four sequels have finished shooting and are going into post production with the first sequel coming in 2020. It's pretty nuts and if given the choice between seeing Avengers 4 or Avatar 2 I'll choose Avengers 4, a much superior franchise.
