The problem is all the people who say the movies are terrible yet they make money. Those same people turn around and pay to go see it anyway. If a movie or franchise continues to make a studio money they will keep making them. I don't blame 'em one bit. Can't hate on a studio for doing what they need to do to make a profit.

I hear this! As long as the movie generates money(a profit) it will continue to come out. Of course with or without profit will come hate for any film...that is just how it is. I will not spend money on this one. I do think this franchise is dumb I did spend money on the first one...not anymore...kudos if it is brings in a profit though...however because HOLLYWOOD only looks to make a profit the quality of films have been watered down in my opinion.

Well for the record I gave the tickets to my niece and a friend of hers. She sent me a text after it was over thanking me for the free movie (and getting to see it before anyone else) but also said next time I give her tickets it better be for a movie that is actually good.

OK, I take pride in being honest and completely not giving a shit what others think. With that being said, I saw this with my daughter today and I have to say...it was good.

Just some background on my thoughts for this franchise, I truly enjoyed the first. I liked the third. I thought the second was a waste. I thought the fourth was Honey Boo Boo's navel lint.

This installment is more of a new stepping ground yet expanding on the franchise's story, especially a big reveal that was pretty awesome. The characters actually have substance in this movie, something neither film did except a bit in the first and third installments.

I know a lot of you are going to be eye rolling and rightfully so, if this sort of film isn't for you it isn't for you. I wouldn't have seen it myself in the theater if it weren't for my daughter wanting to. However I am glad I did.

I think some of you would be pleasantly surprised by this flick.

I hated the first one when I first saw it, but the fact that it scares people that much is something I can't ignore. I sort of found respect for it, even though it's kind of lame by the rest of our standards

    Second one I skipped

Third I remember seeing and not minding.

    Fourth I skipped

So, by this pattern, I'll Netflix the new one. I was going to ignore it, but I'll give it a chance

I honestly was going to skip it. But my daughter takes after me and is a horror maniac. She is only 10 so I have to OK what she can watch. Some gore is fine however no sex. Thus this was a perfect movie to make her happy. She had her hands over her eyes a few times but she survived The Conjuring and this is a walk in the park compared to that.

Oddly enough I found myself enjoying it from the beginning, mainly because of the characters and the humor the writers infused into this story.

Out of all the entries in this franchise I am glad I put my money towards this one. It was obviously made with a bit more intent besides making a quick buck. The proof is the final product as it is much better than the rest in all aspects.

I thought this one was surprisingly good and a return to form for the series, IMO. It's definitely much better than 4 and I think I may like it a little more than the third one (which I liked a fair bit). The last third or so is pretty intense and I dug the tie-ins to the previous movies.

I don't bash on the movies, but they don't interest me. I barely like found footage flicks to begin with and I find the scare scenes to repetitive to make it all worth seeing.

I saw the first one in the theatres on halloween when it came out(wasnt impressed) the second one on dvd(even less impressed) skipped the third and fourth one. So now i hear nothing but good things about this one, how it actually ties them all in together, I read how the producers and director how they have a master plan for how the ending of this franchise will play out, if they can keep people interested and shelling out their money.
Now from what i read of this flick i gotta say my intrest is piqued. Maybe ill get lucky and get them all cheap at walllmart. Any ways its time for me to revisit the first two and check out the last to maybe ill wind up enjoying them as a whole cohesive unit instead of stand alone flicks.

    Spoiler...
when that one dude is sitting on the couch and his neck gets snapped instantly...caught me off guard and was pretty hilarious!

Pretty decent installment, I'd give it about a 6/10 as well. If you've given up on these movies then don't bother with it, otherwise it's a good followup and moves the story forward a bit more. Sure some of these movies have been turds but I'm still vaguely interested to see what the ultimate resolution to the story is.

I watched since my bf wanted too a while back and my thoughts on the franchise haven't changed. Just like the seemingly never ending Saw series, I don't really understand how these keep making money... except, that I do because I'm sure very little money goes into making the movies in the first place. Meh.

So i just finished watching this movie and... it was what i expected. This was actually the first Paranormal Activity ive seen. I tried to watch the first one but it was very stupid so i turned it off half way into it.
This one was not much further behind but the silliness of the whole thing kept me involved and watching. I will say, its good to know that demons or spirits or whatever, follow the 18 or older rule.

It's not an excuse more than it is people bitching yet seeing it anyway (hypocrites). Strange analogy since I don't think you really ever hear someone say how much they hate crack or heroin as they are getting high.
