    After Dark Films

    What the hell is going on with how shitty these films are becoming arent these the same people who put on one of the largest horror film fests in North America? Has the SyFy channel taken control over what type of film gets made? I used to get excited for my annual installment of 8 Films to Die For. The 1st 8 were all very watchable films with good flicks in just about every sub-genre of horror from creepy ghosts stories to slasher films they covered their bases pretty well, the 2nd & 3rd time around were pretty decent too. Then we get to the 4th and final year they were titled after dark horror fest. And they start only having maybe two decent flicks outta 8. So then comes 5th yr. And i forget what theyre now called After Dark something or other with the only ones worth watching were "Husk & Seconds apart" and they never put out the full 8 films as Re-Kill still is yet to be released. I tried to watch Dark Circles directed by Broken Lizards Paul Soter, but that was a snooze fest. So ill probally not watch any more new installments after that. May be their new tag line should be 8 films to bore you to death, 8 films to over kill the CGI.....After Dark you guys suck!

    Most of their films sucked to begin with, in my opinion. Never really liked them, but I liked what they tried to do when they started out.

    That they did. Personally, it seems as though the foreign films due much better when they are selected by this POS film festival. I went the first year they were holding it at my theatre. If I had known the majority of the films would have sucked, I wouldn't have stayed for the whole thing. Now, I just wait until I hear some positive things about a film before I explore it.

    I did enjoy the deaths of ian stone. I believe that was one of the last movies Stan Winston did before he passed. It would have been better if it didnt have all the CGI in it man that can really fuck up a movie

    Ill give ya kill theory and dark ride,but what about the final?that and kill theory were the only two watchable films in that installment. As far as the hamiltons go i liked but you could definitely tell that was made for 5 bucks and a bottle of cheap wine. I prefer the sequel the thompsons over it, its amazing how much a better budget can enhance a movie

    Big budget means nothing to me. You can have all the money you want and still make a shit movie.

    I haven't seen The Thompsons but have it. I think I made a thread on it. The Hamiltons was charming, a luvly film in my opinion. Perfect for my tastes.

    I didn't care much for The Final.

    Amen!

    In most cases I prefer low budget indie over big budget Hollywood. I don't know the exact amount spent but I would assume Freddy vs. Jason cost a fuck ton to make and it was dogshit. Shit cgi, shit direction, shit story, shit writing, and shit acting from everyone except Englund of course. Look at Blair Witch Project. It is a decent film with a low budget and look at all it accomplished. The point I am trying to make is that you could spend a billion dollars on a film and you could just go grab a handycam and go outside and film an impromptu skit and that could be better than the billion dollar movie.

    Do they still do these things?

    Anyway, I liked Wicked Little Things and Husk. Nothing great, but far better than most of anything else I've seen recently. Going to be checking out some more soon.

    They don't do the "Horrorfest" anymore, After Dark Films mostly produces new movies now. Though, I think they still carry the After Dark Films banner on the cover art when they get released on DVD/blu-ray.

    I watched a few of these that were actually pretty good, and got lulled into a false sense of security when I subjected to myself to the piece of shit that was Nightmare Man

    Some of the ones I liked though were: The Hamiltons, Deaths of Ian Stone, Mulberry Street, Frontiers, Autopsy, From Within, Perkins 14, Dread and the Final.

    HERE YOU GO!

    The wait is over! RE-KILL is on the way headlining relaunched 8FilmsToDiefor from After Dark Films. Horrorfest will hit the theaters on October, 16th 2015. Stay tuned for more details, blood and fun! Check out our new website http://8filmstodiefor.com/

    https://www.facebook.com/afterdarkfilms

    First film in the line up..

    It’s been 5 years since the outbreak that wiped out 85% of the world’s population, but the war between Re-Animates (Re-Ans) and Humans wages on. Most of the major cities are still uninhabitable. Within the few surviving cities, the Re-Ans have been segregated into “zones” and are policed by the R-Division of the QUASI S.W.A.T. Unit who hunt to re-kill the Re-Ans in the hope of quelling a second outbreak.

    Second Film;

    When a group of young people camping in the ruins of a medieval Turkish town play a party game called 'Murder in the Dark', they soon discover that someone is taking the game too far...' Produced in an experimental shooting style, this murder-mystery features a cast of actors who were not allowed to see the script. The actors' choices interactively changed the shape of the story. They had to use clues to solve the mystery laid out before them by the filmmakers.

    Third;

    When a little girl dies, her family gathers to mourn the loss. Yet the pain is not forgotten and a vengeful demon spirit takes possession of a vulnerable family member tearing at the ties that bind them all together. One by one, it forces each family member to confess to their buried lies and face the morbid consequences of their sins.
