This movie is 100% top notch in every aspect. The directing job by Reeves is astonishing. Some of the shots he came up with are jaw dropping, that tank shot....

This is how CGI is done folks. Absolutely incredible. Having Serkis helps bring your main character to life and he did that and then some. I don't know if The Academy has to add a category for actors playing CGI roles or not but he needs to be nominated. I would have no problem with him being nominated for Best Supporting Actor and winning it. He is that good. Toby Kebbell did an outstanding job with Koba as well.

For once a movie lives up to its lofty expectations and delivers on all fronts and then some. The only issue I have with it is I think Oldman simply isn't used as he should have been. To have such a great actor with so little screen time is a waste.

    Definitely seeing this again

I'm only seeing this because I have a free ticket and I might as well use it. I haven't seen the original yet. It does sound better than the first one.

EDIT: btw, by 'original' I don't mean the 1968 classic Planet of the Apes.. I mean the first movie of this new series.. Planet of the Apes is a great sci-fi movie though.

just got back. Absolutely great movie. Andy Serkis really takes the CGI performance from a bad gimmick to an actual art form. This is some of the best CGI I've seen. The storyline is great, the effects are great. I really dug this movie.

It IS the best CGI I have ever seen. The tank scene, the way it was shot is absolutely incredible. This scene will go down as one of the greats in movie lore.

Koba was really great too. I really hated him, but I understood why he was so angry. I never thought I'd see a machine gun duel wielding ape! What was it he kept saying to Caeser over and over when pointing to his scars? Great scene.

It's not really the original, though. This is a reboot series of the 1968 movie. Or the Tim Burton remake. Not sure which.

Just saw it. This is Cesar's show all the way, as it is mostly about the apes. The human characters weren't much, though. But I was happy with the world they created. 7/10

EDIT: Oh yeah, the tank scene was cool, and apes with machine guns, awesome

Easily an 8/10. Best CGI I have ever seen in a movie and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I didn't know this is a remake of Battle for the Planet of the Apes. I guess they already tried remaking the original, so they're remaking the sequels to the original now.

I think this is getting a bit overrated. I'll change my score to 6/10. Worth a watch, but nothing really special.
