The thing i liked most about it, is that it explained just enough for people that aren't familiar with the universe. It didn't hyper focus on explaining every little detail for them like some comic movies do. I think Gunn hit a great balance on that. Especially with the after the credits, you either knew who that was or you didn't.

I thought the universe was pretty lame. Nothing I haven't seen in other sci-fi movies/video games. Blue people? Straight of Mass Effect and probably dozens of other stuff. Villains were completely lame and didn't buy them. Heroes were cliche frat boy dude, ninja chick love interest, tough guy with heart of gold, and the Racoon was more annoying than Jar Jar Binks....... the tree thing was straight out of Lord of the Rings.

That would all be good if they did something original with it. But the plot was the standard macguffin/doomsday weapon. What was so great about this? The humour was lame and forced, the action just standard fight scenes, explosions and cgi. The characters cliche and annoying. The visuals nothing I haven't seen in dozens of better movies.

There aren't even a dozen really good scifi movies, visually.

If you count the original Star Wars trilogy, Alien 1-4 plus Star Trek 1-6, that's over a dozen easily.

Your opinion. But okay. Not sure what movie you saw, you're probably thinking of As Above So Below or The Giver.

The original SW trilogy is two good movies that are more fantasy than scifi. Alien 1-4 is two and a half good movies. Star Trek 1-6 has like two truly good installments. Visually or otherwise.

Of all of these I only consider Alien to be a truly great scifi picture in general. As fantasy pop scifi goes, GotG is a cut above most.

Oh we all now had this movie been universally panned or completely flopped, Count would be praising it as a misunderstood gem. Just like he pretends to like Batman and Robin.

Saw it three times with my son. Everyone and their mother has seen this at this point. Other than Orlok I have not heard anyone else disliking it.

Actually I only like something if its popular. Before I have an opinion, I look at the statistics to make sure that it is in the majority.

Just seen this for the first time, and it's one of the best movie experiences i've had in awhile. Solid start to finish. Easily an 8/10.

This was a fantastic film. Someone said the lines were forced?? I felt just the opposite. The humor flowed beautifully and I was in awe of it. It made me smile, laugh. I don't do smiling and laughing. I knew nothing of the characters and this turned out to be an amazing experience. I will buy the DVD. The rewatch value is neverending. : )
