Plot: "In the antebellum United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery."
This is truly an amazing film. I kind of felt that once you see a slave film, you kind of seen them all, but this is a great story. It's also based off the memoirs of the real Solomon Northup. He published the book in 1853 called 12 Years a Slave. So, this is all based on actual true events. Once I heard that and watched the film it felt a lot more real.
Also, Brad Pitt's production company released this film and has a very minor role in it, but everyone's acting performances are top notch. Michael Fassbender, I always knew was an amazing actor, but he just gave me chills for his performance in this. I'm not familiar with Chiwetel Ejiofor's other work, but he also did an amazing job.
Overall, fantastic movie. It's not out yet on DVD or anything, but please go to the theater and watch this film. It was unbelievable
