They actually did a Q and A with the director there yesterday. I wish I didn't miss that.

I saw this again last night and enjoyed it even more. Picked up on subtle things you will probably miss not knowing the extent of what is going on in your first watch. Such a creepy, atmospheric movie...so good!

Yup, with nothing at all noteworthy coming out between now and the end of the year this will pretty much be my pick for best horror movie of the year.

I'm inclined to agree that this might lose some people for being too slow and practically no blood or gore, which is unfortunate because they would really be missing out.
I can't remember the last time watching a movie has literally put a chill somewhere underneath my skin, created a tone and feeling that built throughout without faltering, and constantly played against expectations. I especially liked how many creepy moments also occurred during the day, or twilight hours. I think that was important to not losing momentum with the atmosphere and tension. All of this without relying on jump scares, in fact I don't believe there is a single one.
Spoiler...It really reminded me of The Shining, but with Essie Davis instead of Jack Nicholson and more effective in it's execution due to her incredible performance.
