I didn't mind the slownburn, I actually liked the slow decent into madness. What I hated was the ending. I felt like they tried for a classic ending, and maybe I missed something because it fell flat. I don't mind intepretational endings(ala It Follows) but I really hated the ending of the Babadook. Still the film, even with the ending, was a 6/10 maybe 6.5/10

Well really, these types of films you can go two ways. Either the madness possesses and consumes her, like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Or you can have redemption. I guess they were going for a redemption type ending, but not so cheeseball as to say everything is happy (I don't think you could make that approach work, anyway). So that's why they show the Babadook demon as not vanquished, just kept under control.
Actually, a pretty good ending. So, I don't get all the criticism.

Come on man, it's just a lil joke. I agree with you...your views are usually unique and are generally not agreed with. Which makes you...YOU. Not a bad thing at all, hell I'll even venture to say refreshing in a way. But here you have at least three other members agreeing with your point of view. Maybe you want to edit that
But as you have it stated I agree word for word

This is what I mised about this place. Everywhere I went they talked about it like it was the Citizen Kane of horror and if you didn't like it you obviously didn't "get it". It was way overhyped. While not an original premise it isn't over done. The entire thing just seemed to fall short. I could see what they were trying to do but it just always felt a bit ..off to me. If that makes sense.

Those movies get a lot of critical acclaim but that doesn't mean they're the best.

Glad I popped in for a much overdue visit to this site. I've been contemplating giving this flick a look for a while now, and now I have to check it out. I was worried it was just going to be another CGI-infested ghost/creature flick, but I'm glad to read so many positive reviews.
