Anyone ever check this out? After watching the brilliant American Hustle, my buddy told me to give this a chance. I am glad I did because I feel that it's in my top 10 dramas. It's not a perfect film by any means, but the performances are worthy enough to give Lawrence an Oscar for best actress. (Not that I really give a shit about the Oscars, but you get what I'm saying). Bradley Cooper is becoming a favorite actor of mine. At one point I only knew him from Midnight Meat Train, which don't get me wrong is a great movie IMO, and the Hangover series. His performance in American Hustle is made me respect him as an actor and not just 'the confident guy in three comedies'. Plus, De Niro is in it and gives a very emotional performance. So, that right there should be an alert to watch this.
Anyway, I'd give this film a high 8/10, maybe even treading on 9/10 territory. I really loved it and thought the film was extremely beautiful. Sure, it can be a bit predictable at times, but the great performances and cool story make this stand out. Definitely give it a try.
EDIT: After viewing the trailer, it seems that the music and overly mood makes this into a sappy romantic comedy, but I assure everyone it's not. There are strong performances here and while times it is sort of funny, at the same exact time it's extremely sad to watch. Many mixed emotions while going through it. The trailer makes it seem that Bradley Cooper has no problems and it's all Lawrence's character, but to see Cooper transform himself into a medicated and no-filter individual makes it a great watch. Plus it's extremely heavy on the language.
