Robocop (2014) review (spoilers)

What a limp dick POS. Ok, wasn't bad, just extremely mediocre and forgettable. They sucked all of the life and soul out of Robocop, for a soulless remake.

Ok action scenes.. that's about it.

They only use the main Robocop theme twice.

Villains were lame. The story was lame.

Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton were ok.

Samuel Jackson I guess was the satire? Not funny, though.

Silly remakes, they forget what made the originals such classics in the first place.

That's too bad. Loved the original as well, and was a great theater experience. It's really a shame that too many remakes tend to fall way short of the originals.

No I used a voucher so it was basically free. Hell no I wouldn't pay full price to see this.

oh cool (well cool if it hadn't been Robocop). I don't automatically hate all remakes. When I first heard about this movie way back when I was even hopeful, because I love Robocop and I thought "Great he's back!" I was even kinda hopeful when I saw the first still image (before footage) of the gray and black because it was a cool little update. Theeeen they went and "Nolanized" him. I can't begin to tell you how angry I was when I heard someone say paint him black. Now he's generic and forgettable. Then came the awful footage. He's just Nolan's Batman mixed with Ironman with Kitt from Nightriders red lights on his face. Plus the fact its PG-13 takes away any chance to say something ballsy like the original did. I'm pretty sure I'll pass unless my friends really wanna go.

Just saw it... wasn't terrible but nowhere near the original. The whole thing with the suit is a moot point, because they address it in the movie and appease the original fan. A lof of nerd culture actors(Jackson, Burchel, Keaton, Oldman, and Haley). As Orlock said, it did use the original theme twice, wish it was more.
It's PG13, but it is only probably due to not much cursing. It is a bit graphic in scenes, not too much blood but just brutal.
It is a lot of buildup and then kind of crams the last half hour with the climax.

6/10... but a low 6

, even though it's only implied and you don't see anything. Nah, it's all very tame really. The PG-13 definitely shows.

And the climax of the film was a bit of an anti-climax for me. Dick Jones getting it was a cheer-worthy moment,

maybe its cuz I was expecting crap, but it wasn't bad. I mean the original is definitely better, but they took the time to tell a story hear. The trailer made it look like some cash in remake where he was gonna be Robocop in 5 minutes but they spend a lot of time on Alex Murphy and his rehab into becoming Robocop. I dug that about it.

So I went to see RoboCop three nights ago...and...despite some flaws and a lousy ending, I overall enjoyed this movie.

It will never hold a candle to the PERFECT masterpiece that is the original RoboCop which is and will always be superior no matter what.

But what I got was some great action, a good lead character, a very different but rather inventive story that keeps it from being dull and fucking boring like most remakes of today turn out to be, even a scene that surprised me with how truly disturbing it was which is really saying something.

Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Jackie Earl Hayley own every scene they're in and are extremely compelling to watch when RoboCop takes us through the film.

If I have any issues with this movie they're obvious ones: it's not super violent enough, the actor for Alex Murphy comes off as a prick to me in the start but is redeemed when in the new body, I wish it had a little more cultural subtext in the backdrop to make it more grim, and the black suit was pretty meh but it's only in about half the film.

RoboCop: the remake is definitely a good remake for once, it's very entertaining, nostalgic, compelling, it's something ass-hats in H-wood SHOULD understand and take notice when remaking old classics, even if this was one out of many others that didn't need to be remade.

*Murphy seeing what is left of him
*The upgraded tech - particularly Robocop being able to access the criminal database and do facial matches.. accessing the CCTV cameras was cool too

I wanted this to fail miserably and never be heard from again.Just like Conan remake and just like Total Recall remake...but I ended up seeing this and god damnit.I can't hate the movie.I really don't have a negative thing to say about the movie.I really liked it.Everyone's acting was on level,cgi wasn't terrible and the nods to the original were minimal and subtle I would totally be down for a sequel.
