Either the prequels will be an excuse to replace the original cast with fresh young faces due to the fear that Keanu won't sell it or its being done for legit storytelling or a sequel trilogy would be too hard to pull off even though we're lead to believe the 'peace' at the end of the trilogy wouldn't last.

I'm just not very sure there would be a whole lot of interest in a 'how it began/the early years of the Matrix' scenario. I kinda feel like it would come off a lot like the Terminator mythos.

Some computer defense system built for the military, etc etc blah blah.

I liked the second one. The action scenes were pretty f'king awesome. Didn't care for all the talky shit, though. The third one was a big disappointment for me. But in retrospect it wasn't bad, just not as good as the other two.

I would at least want Lawrence Fishburne (sp?) to return as Morpheus and Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith. As for the Animatrix I would love to see something in live action of how and why the machines took over. It would be kind of cool to see the story of the runner in there somewhere too.

I want to see this and this can be very good!!! There are too many mysteries in the first Matrix that can be explained, if done well. And i loved the first Matrix.

What mysteries? Everything was pretty much explained in the Animatrix films.

I am thinking the story of the runner, the one of the kids who found the vortex and maybe the one where they put the machine in the matrix were all supposed to be previous versions of the matrix. Kid's Story, Final Flight Of The Osiris, and Detective Story all take place within the current matrix.
