Starz is teaming up with Michael Bay for a series called Black Sails, a prequel to the popular story Treasure Island. That's right, PIRATES. Michael Bay is about to blow up a bunch of pirate ships! It's been ordered straight to series, so this is happening. And yes, per Starz tradition, there will be nudity. PIRATE NUDITY.

No worries, you're not doing anything wrong, there's always been a problem with the search function. The best way to see if there's already a post is to start out by creating a new topic and in the subject put the title or part of the title. If nothing comes up then chances are a thread doesn't already exist. For whatever reason the duplicate thread search is more accurate than the regular search.

Watched the first episode, and it seems pretty good. The chick with the two swords is bad ass, and looks like she is gonna be a baddie for the season. Nice set up, and intro to the characters... and showing even the captain has some antiohero traits.

Finally got around to finishing the first season. It's alright. The premiere ep was pretty strong, but then it kind of went an entirely different direction than I expected. The show relies heavily on character, story development, dialogue and lots of politicking. All of which are rather unexpected for a show essentially just about pirates. This works for and against the show since those looking for a gritty, violent, action oriented series about pirates (like myself) will be a bit disappointed to find that it's really just about a group of characters on some sort of pirate island.

However, it's fairly well written, but unfortunately it's so dialogue heavy (along with the slow pace) that it makes it rather boring at times. Of course that's just my opinion. It ended on a somewhat interesting note, so I may check out the next season. Though if they don't fix the pacing this time, I probably won't stick around for very long.

I'm about to watch the season 2 finale tonight.. it's been a pretty bad-ass season and I really dig the show a lot.. I love that it's characters from Treasure Island (Captain Flynt, (Long) John Silver, and Billy Bones) but also real historic pirates (Charles Vane, Anne Bonnie, (Calico) Jack Rackham, et al).. nicely mixed together.. There are some issues I've had with it, such as flash-backs to before Flynt was a pirate, I just didn't feel it that even though it was important later in the story, it could've been covered in one flash-back episode, rather than interrupting the flow of several episodes, but thankfully they didn't spread that out for every episode and ended that practice eventually... and I dig the theme song.. I downloaded and blast it in me mustang when I be out pillagin'...

The season finale was fucking AWESOME!!! If you gave up on in it after season one, I can't recommend giving season 2 a chance enough.. it was so much better.. it's ten episodes.. the season is over and is an easy day of satisfying binge-watching. The finale was the best finale I've watched in a LONG time.

Thanks to warbeast's persistance I decided to give the second season a chance and boy am I glad I did! Most of the pacing issues I had with the first season were resolved here. They finally got a good flow of action, story, and character development. Things really heated up towards the end, which led to a pretty awesome finale. THIS is the pirate series I was hoping to get from the start! Hopefully it just gets better and better from here on out. Bring on season 3
