Yup billy bob is gonna mmake an appearance. Hes in the teaser trailer. A couple yrs. Ago the drive in by my house showed Fargo in the middle of a blizzard. It was fucking cool, they had a fish fry,beer tents and burn barrels every where, i might have to check this out

Finally watched the first ep earlier and I'm already hooked. Since the season is already over I'll be binging on the rest of the season

Some of it really throws you off as to wondering, "is this supposed to be like an alternate universe version of this other character from the film?" because of the female cop and Martin Freeman's character seeming so like William H. Macy's character. This being like them but not them I was sort of off-put in the beginning, because it's not a TV show about the movie. It's very loosely related and still kinda alternate universe. It's all about the flavor and just more or less in that world, without being that exact world. Still, there's this awesome thread that binds them that you get to maybe not quite half-way in or so. Folks who have seen the film will get a huge kick out of it but for folks who aren't familiar with the film it'll just seem like another oddball thing thrown in there that fits with the sometimes surreal nature of the story.

Season 2 will likewise be in that world but about a whole new set of characters.

Nah, this show takes place directly in the universe of the film, while still being a sort of love letter to the film, mirroring characters and little pieces like watching the Gophers play hockey.

The timeline may not really work for these to be literally connected. They only share the one thing, besides title and general location. Maybe. I took it as more of an Alien>Prometheus sort of link that's not entirely literal. But you might be right. The Nyagaard and Solverson characters, because they're so derivative of Lundegaard and Gundersen, are stronger if we're not to believe in coincident female police chiefs pregnant in and around spousicide investigations into short, weasily, under-achieving sad sacks who also coincidentally involve themselves with local underworld types of varying degrees of lethality and competence.

The money Buscemi buried is the same money that Oliver Platt uses to start his supermarket kingdom.

Series executive producer Noah Hawley says in his mind, Stavros finds the briefcase about a week after Carl, the character played by Steve Buscemi in the original Coen brothers film, buries it in the snow. “There was another storm. Obviously, it was the same winter,” he said.

that's what the money represents, though that in and of itself still doesn't have to be a literal connection. That's a difficult concept for a lot of people to handle but welcome to storytelling. And it still may be an iffy timeline and that still doesn't address how if it's explicitly the same exact world then that casts the writing as somewhat lazy in its central characters. So, yeah, confirmed, they're recycled and lazy. The rest of it was great and that bit, making that clarification, was an unfortunate mistake on Stavros' part.

Disappointing.

Finished the season earlier--GREAT series overall. Really dug it from the beginning and it just kept getting better. Malvo is one badass mutha F'er

Now that everything seems wrapped I'm not sure exactly where they're gonna go with another season. I was actually under the impression going in that this was just a one-season-type thing.

It's gonna be in the same area but an entirely different group of characters. So like American Horror Story and True Detective, only without leaving the tri-state area.

Who knew this location was ripe for such underworld activity and intrigue. When I visited it just seemed like the sorta place everyone drinks due to boredom.
