Adèle is a high school student who is beginning to explore herself as a woman. She dates men but finds no satisfaction with them sexually, and is rejected by a female friend who she does desire. She dreams of something more. She meets Emma who is a free spirited girl whom Adèle's friends reject due to her sexuality, and by association most begin to reject Adèle. Her relationship with Emma grows into more than just friends as she is the only person with whom she can express herself openly. Together, Adèle and Emma explore social acceptance, sexuality, and the emotional spectrum of their maturing relationship.

Blue Is the Warmest Color is a great film and not because it has a very complex or revolutionary argument, but for the beauty that evokes in every moment, and because it gives its characters a human breath, not manipulated, almost neat and free, I would say.

A movie where the sex scenes are not used in a way simple and free, but are needed to create an emotional bond with the viewer. Give them a look purely erotic to the images, would be deprive them of deep.

Good movie, but I did think the sex scenes could have been done better. They seemed too much like porn.

Still, the "goal", so to speak, the message of the film can not be reduced only to scenes of sex and nothing more. At least I found it much more profound, is a romantic drama, but without taboos and cliches of the genre, but honest and heartbreaking as has rarely been seen.

I agree. I enjoyed the emotional honesty of the scenes. The actresses were extremely good.

its actually a really interesting and enjoyable film and whilst it is long it weirdly doesnt feel it because the story is engrossing. The actings is superb and both actresses are fantastic. personally i felt there was no need for the sex scenes and that the director used the controversy of this to attracta wider audience.
