I was reading a post somewhere, may have been in the UHM Facebook group where someone said he is so visionary and better than all other directors in today's horror that you know it's his film just by looking at it.
White trash, check. Sheri, check. Ghost animals, check. Horribly written script, check. Characters with faces painted, check.
Yeah, I can tell which films are his just by looking at them as well. Uh, just a tad bit short of visionary though.

It was okay. Gosh, almost every kill he had the camera shaking, which in turn you couldn't focus well on the violence. On the circus bus that they traveled in had thee most boring conversations going on.. It was like they were just saying one liners and who could top who in saying the dirtiest things.
This guy, Doom Head was fantastic! He made the whole film for me..He needs his own movie.
In the Q&A Rob was asked what are his favorite of his films, after saying he really never watches his own movies, he did throw out the titles of Devil's Rejects and Halloween 2......
About 75 people in the theater, quiet as fuck! I'm the only one yelling FUCK YEAH as chainsaws were being started..

IMO, Rob Zombie should replace lab rats for experimentation on new and non FDA approved medication.

Rob Zombie is a disgrace...I can't believe he's even discussed in horror forums...that's the real horror IMO.

I will never understand the horror fans who just up and blindly hate Rob Zombie who is a visual director and I have seen how great and interesting his work can be, even if I don't care for his Halloween movies.
So after seeing how awesome Lords of Salem was, I was hyped to see his next movie "31" that was paid for through crowdfunding, I paid $50 for a DVD copy of the movie that I hope is the uncut version, seeing as how RZ had to make cuts under the corrupting dick-balls and anus-twats of the MPAA.
After several theater technical difficulties, the movie played an hour later and I watched...
Sadly, the whole movie was one big disappointment.
I was expecting something much more over the top and fun, after seeing the concept art for RZ's 31, I was excited and thought it was going to be a great Halloween-themed freak show circus ride with elements of "The Purge"...but it wasn't that at all.
I love me some horror trash but only if there is a charm to it that could make it so bad it's good, this felt like a 2 hour long bad music video, say what you will about RZ's House of 1000 Corpses, at least it was colorful, with fun creepy characters with strange monsters thrown in to give it something imaginative and at least it had fun with what it was doing.
31 has a simple plot that never feels convoluted, it's the fucking editing that ruins the film, RZ just doesn't know how to film good fight scenes, even the horror elements are kind of cheap, there are many scenes with shock and awe when the pure horror stuff kicks in but then it feels too little too late and when you make jump cuts and dozens of close-ups lengthening a scene or shot that doesn't have any real pay off it's going to ruin the magic and take me out of it, which it did.
There's a scene where E. G. Daily (voice of Tommy Pickles) plays as a killer called "Sex-Head" who attacks one of the characters and it's shot in this horrible amped-up strobe effect it gave me a headache with how much it was assaulting my view.
The acting from most of the cast isn't that good at all...except for the over-acting Malcolm McDowell who is always a joy to watch as Father Murder even if he doesn't have much to do, but for the rest of the cast they just act like total idiots and makes them forgettable that you just want to see them die, Sheri-Moon Zombie is given the badass girl shtick and moments where it felt like it was going for that deep dark twisting of humanity but it's not fleshed out properly and falls flat like it didn't even matter much.
If there is anything great about this movie that sadly there's not enough of, it's Richard Brake as Doom-Head, he plays the role to a great sinister level where he's one scary and fucked up guy and yet every time he appears on screen he's engaging to watch you can't take your eyes off him even the movie feels more competent when he's on, all of his scenes in the movie are by far the best. I would watch a whole movie about Doom-Head.
Even though the ending with him, while cool looking, doesn't go anywhere.
31 is the weakest of RZ's work, whether it was the lack of funds or the cuts to the film, it never works with what it's trying to do, even the blood and gore in the movie can't save it from being a horribly shot, TERRIBLY edited and soul-crushingly disappointing experience that could have used a better script or a better creative use with its money, it was not the thrill ride I was hoping for and Rob Zombie needs to really grind his movies down to affordable indie movies or needs to just stick with making music.
4/10

He just talked about his filmmaking, oh he made 31 in 20 days. 31 was thought up in a phone conversation. He likes using same actors and now and then add a new face...just stuff like that. He knows not everyone likes his films but he doesn't care. He is going to keep making them no matter what.

I thought this scene was great! It was like a psycho dream. Watching it almost had an opposite 3D effect, like I was being pulled into the film..

It's laughable when someone complains the MPAA made him cut his film. This is a 95% VOD release so why cut it? The rating has no impact with VOD, only theatrical and this will be hardly in any theaters. If he is so high and mighty about his shitty vision he shouldn't bother editing it. Shows he can't only not write a good script he also has horrible business skills.

My buddy saw this last night at the Quarry Theater by me. He said there was this chick screaming the entire time and people kept telling her to shut the fuck up. She was drunk as hell and was removed from the theater AFTER the movie was over. He said he enjoyed the movie, but from what I read it doesn't look like it's for me. Shaky camera and boring parts can't be justified. It's shitty film making.
