Of course, the difference is I don't think they should be wasting their time making a mashup film of two films that were already good on their own, and instead how about trying to make a decent film based on the actual war, that of course, actually looks like the war Cameron gave us from the first two movies.

They took the easy route, threw Arnold back into the mix and a couple more names.

What? They've nuked the fridge while simultaneously jumping the shark. And on top of that the visual effects look like they were done by Youtube enthusiasts. I seriously hope these are "temps" and represent early development. They were bad, and that's the only reason to watch this franchise anymore because the stories are just stupid now, with all the hand waving and middle schooler's approach to time travel.

It's only saving grace is Emelia Clark looks adorable. She's so much prettier with her natural hair color.

This looks pretty damn watchable. That t-1000 spear throw was pretty badass. I'm fully behind Emilia Clarke being in more movies.

I simply can't get behind this mash up of the first two movies.

I'll wait till it hits the net or TV.

Wow talk about having a change of heart, I think this looks damn enjoyable after that. I also see nothing wrong with the effects.

I am iffy about it. The "come with me if you want to live!" part had me rolling my eyes pretty hardcore. The effects don't seem terrible, but nothing as groundbreaking as T2 at the time. It just seems pretty meh. But I am a Schwarzenegger fanboy, so I will watch anything he's in.

Is it just me, or does Schwarzenegger always have a mild grin on his face nowadays? It's distracting, like he lost all his ability to "act". I put act in quotes because he was never amazing to begin with, just in amazing movies IMO. Idk, I feel like I'm being nitpicky, but I will watch this eventually. Probably when it hits theaters.

    Simple really.
Its a "reboot" of the series that combines movies 1 and 2. But instead of being a full reboot they use the paradoxes of time travel to explain the differences of events.

.... Watch the Time Machine if youre still confused on whats happening.

It's not a reboot, or not simply a reboot, it's something that's never existed before (that I can think of). It's simultaneously a prequel and sequel and reboot. That's impressive, if only it didn't look like absolute shit.

Basically, sometime after Connor sends Reece back, could be minutes, could be days, could be years, he doesn't blink out of existence so Skynet sends back the T1000 to try harder and he sends back a T800 to help his child self break his crazy mom out of Pescadera and that was either always a part of his time stream or a new history/memory that blinked into existence rather than him blinking out of existence. The only question, really, is whether or not he was aware (of all that or his young self traveling forward in time with yet another T800 to fight in the future, which is what happens in the special venue film for Universal, T23D).

Before going on, that's something that's never addressed or ever made clear (unless it was in the abortive T3 which I also will not be subjecting myself to). I'd really like to know if the adult John Connor always had the memories of knowing he would someday send Reece back AND that he and a T800 busted his mom out of a mental hospital and fought a T1000. Either he always had these memories and everything else that happened between 1992 and the time he sends Reece back, or, new "memories" begin to appear and the transition is one that he may or may not even be aware of. Either his whole history changes and he becomes a new entity with a totally different past than what existed up to the moment that first T800 was sent back or everything is as it always has been for him up to that moment and he's simply playing out events that have always influenced his past and Judgement Day did, will and will always happen and neither he or Reece or anyone else will ever truly become "unstuck" from time.

Anyway, depending on whether or not the events of T3 and Salvation are acknowledged to have happened, sometime after Connor sends that first T800 back to help fight the T1000 (for the events in T2) he pulls a Skynet/JJ-Abrams and decides to send a T800 back even farther (it's implied to when Sarah was just a kid, so that her life and youth could be robbed just like John's) so that by the time 1984 rolls around Sarah is already trained and is ready to fight the original T800 (the one from The Terminator) preventing the events of that film, ideally preventing Reece's death as well, so that they, along with now the third T800 (who, from Sarah's perspective becomes the first one she'll encounter) they can stop Cyberdyne from ever getting their hands on the technology that will eventually lead to Judgement Day.

This third T800 going back further in time, to Sarah's youth, is a means to explain why it looks like an old Schwarzeneggar. The organic material aged, as would be expected. Underneath the endoskeleton would be ready for action and virtually just as strong as the T800 sent back to the '80s.

While that's totally consistent with the slippery slope of whirlwind of paradoxical bullshit that took over the franchise from the moment T2 was created it's biggest sin is the fact that it takes a big old dump on the happenings of the original and best story in the entire franchise, in a way, and says, "all that stuff that happened, well it didn't happen, and we're going to replace it with a lot of bullshit and stuff you've already seen but we can't do it as good as you've already seen it."

    It's a sequel/prequel/reboot/WTF!?

That trailer didn't do anything for me, might save it for a $5 Tuesday at best, nothing to get pumped over, at least for me.

Two things, very good point where this seemingly tosses the original out the window and saying it never took place. I didn't think of that but now I do see how that is being done.
Second, interesting premise old Arnold fighting young Arnold. CGI or not, the thought alone is pretty badass.

Could we actually get a film that shows John Connor living up to be a badass?

Salvation wasted Bale and put all focus on bland Aussie Sam Worthington.

This time it looks like bland aussie human wallpaper Jai Courtney will be front and Center.

Just show us what all that training prepped John for dammit!
